NFL Beat writers Mock draft
High Mark replied to The Rev.Mattb74 ESQ.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. Maybin sucks -
Oh how we used to produce in the late rounds...
High Mark replied to Coach55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wasn't Ballard drafted as an underclasssman? I think he was and that is how he was taken so late. It would be like us drafting Andre Smith in the 6th round of the 08 draft even though he didnt declare. If you take him out, those late round picks are somewhat average. Some starting TEs and LBs but mainly reserve and ST players. Id like to see the Bills exceed theses past drafts eventually -
lets draft two centers that could play guard or vice versa. We need OL, lets not kid ourselves.
-
Great insight. Now to post my draft suggestions with the thread titled "Modrak, I know your watching..." PS- did you ask how one comes to become a college/football scout? Seems like an intereting career.

Screw Pettigrew... I really want...
High Mark replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its the spread dude. Just because he never lined up as a blocker doesnt mean he cant do it average enough to be a starting TE. Royal was supposed to be a "blocking TE" but if you didnt notice he was taken out for most running plays. In college Coffman completely controlled the middle of the field on seem routes and was spectacular running underneath and crossign routes - Just what the Bills need. He wont dominate as a blocker, but he will as a pass catcher -- pass catching muhc more important. -
Cushing and Matthews cleared of steroid allegations
High Mark replied to lets_go_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Damnit. Those guys may have been our 2nd round pick if it were true. -
If Dorsey were in this draft class he would be a huge steal at 11. Add in the fact he has a year under his belt the value is there. The thing would be his contract, which is paying the $ of a top 5 pick. I personnaly dont care about the $, but the Bills brass clearly do.

You have 1 minute left on the clock

Cut TO and sign Plax

Completely wrong. The majority of NFL players smoke weed. I have posted a bunch of times on here about me seeign Bills players cruising Fishers campus with dubbs blazin'. These guys dont let it affect their play, they have been great since HS and have smoke since HS too.

Rumor: Cushing and Matthews test positive for steroids?
High Mark replied to Fingon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I personally will take all the steriod users and dope smokers I can if they are as talented as these guys (assuming the reason they are good is not the juice, with a guy like Cushing I think thats the case. As for Harvin, Rajij and Davis, i highly doubt the weed makes them better ball players). I have admitted to myself long ago that most of the league has juiced at somepoint, and that probably 75% of them burn one down from time to time. I dont care as long as they play well. Now if Kelsay got caught on the Juice i would be pissed. How can you juice and be that bad? -
I have seen this in too many threads. It seems that everyone on this boar has a man crush on Freeman, and I for the life of me want to know why? The dude sucks, A LOT. He is terrible, just completely abysmal. Have you seen any K State games? You know who else had a big time arm and good mobility... JP Losman. You know who Freeman reminds me of...a poor mans Losman. This guy is benefiting from the same thought that made Jamarcus Russell the #1 overall pick when he had no business being anywhere near that spot as an actual football player. I don’t care if he is 8 foot tall, 500 pounds, and could through a football ¾’s of a mile, he has no accuracy and cannot make reads. I hope the Jets draft Freeman because that means they will suck for the next 5 years suffering with him under center. People say they are scared of Sancez being a “one year wonder”, well at least he had one good year as apposed to Freeman’s NO good years. Look at his stats – not that stats mean anything – but they are not good. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=192029 For fun, here are Losman’s senior year stats. JP had more TDs and more INTs, but the TD/INT ratio is very close, the rest are nearly identical in every category as well. PASSING GP-GS Effic Att-Cmp-Int Pct Yds TD Lng Avg/G ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Losman, J.P. 12-12 139.90 422-251-14 59.5 3077 33 87 256.4 In defense of my of opinion that stats mean nothing, Matt Ryan had similar stats to these two, but at a higher rate- ie more attempts, completeiong yards etc, but in similar ratios. Here is that link. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/stats?playerId=146254 In 2007 Freeman benefited from Jordy Nelson, one of the better college WR of recent time. 2008, remove the beat-up games of Montana State (1-AA or FCS now-a-days), North Texas, and Louisiana-Lafayette, and his numbers are putrid. Don’t forget all the great defenses he played, Texas Tech, Colorado, and Iowa State (sarcasm). Point: take all the useless numbers out of it, and watch him play. What you are left with is a terrible, terrible QB.

Bears get Cutler! He goes to the NFC.
High Mark replied to Fingon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why would the Broncos trade up with us one slot when they know we are not going to take Sanchez? The only reason would be a preventative measure agaisnt someone else trading with us. Best bet is that they leap frog the 9ers -

Raji tested postive for drugs at combine...
High Mark replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can recall walking the campus of St John Fisher during the training camp (I live right down the road), and seeing a pimped out all black escalade on 22's rolling across campus. A naive person would have thought there was a bon fire lit on the passenger seat, and Im willing to bet it wasnt a college student taking summer classes. Bottom line is most NFL players smoke dope, including a lot of Bills players. Gaines Adams and Calvin Johnson both tested for weed at the combine correct? They were high picks. Hopefully he slips, but he wont. -
Cutler's 2009 cap hit to whatever team gets him...
High Mark replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good teams, aka the Patriots, take players late in the draft, like the 7th round (Cassel), then trade them for high round picks (2nd). In the non-existant chance we traded for Cutler (with our 11th, and a 2nd day pick), the Bills could move Edwards for a mid 2nd round pick if they wanted to. Hypothetically we trade Peters for a First+2nd day pick. Essentially we would have traded #11, Edwards, and Peters for a #20-30, 2nd rounder, swapped late round picks and gotten Cutler. -
Former Bill Matt Bowen article on the Bills
High Mark replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I Disagree with his article. The key to winning games this season is going to be scoring more points than the other team. great insight in the artcle -
Mark Gaughan thinks we should consider Kendall Simmons
High Mark replied to Magox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dont count your chickens before they hatch. Another team may sign Simmons before the draft. Any team that is not able to address their G need in the draft will be after him once the draft is complete. He has not drawn much interest and was injured, sign him to a deal that allows the Bills to bail if he cannot perform or we can draft a G. We wont have to commit some huge bonus to him, or June for that matter, they could be cut once camp comes around no biggie. -
I bolded the names of the rookie tackles from last years class. 3 other rookie tackles played RT or where injured. Sam Bakeris not on the list, but I thought he played LT for the Flacons. Maybe he did in the few games their other tackle missed. From what I heard he played very well. Bottom line is its a lot easier to find a quality LT than people think, especially with the class coming out this year. One of the Bolded rookies, B.Albert, played Guard in college because one of this years prospects was so good. IF Peters is comepletely unreasonable in his contract demands, I think trading him is a good option. We would need to come away with two first day picks though, one in the first round. Im not trading away a good player for one pick, because I am going to have to replace that player. We need two picks to make it worth it.
-
Same here. Clady let in 0.5 sacks this season, his rookie season, for what ended up being the pass happy Broncos. Maybe he is not as strong a run blocker as Peters, but this is the LT spot. Pass blocking is what matters... no Bills fan is bringing up his run blocking ability, just how many sacks he allowed (Peters tat is). Can we get a Ryan CLady this year at 11? Maybe, if A. Smaith falls and is not the next Mike Willaims, then maybe. Id rather sign Peters for a realistic rate, aka much less than what Jake long makes (Yes Long is better than Peters). This is the NFL... what have you done for me recently? Our OL is in shambles, lets not hide it. Three returning starters, one in a big contract ordeal, on a line as average/bad as ours was is something to worry about.
-
Who is to say that the Bills wont draft a Pro Bowl caliber tackle like the Phins or Broncos did last year? If you could trade Peters for the Eagles two firsts, and come away with a tackle as good as Ryan Clady at 11 (Clady was drafted 12th), I think its a no brainer because Clady is better than Peters if you use last year as the barometer. Obviously the problem is the draft is so uncertain you can never bank on getting a quality starter, even at 11. Regardless of what happens, the Bills wont score 18 TDs without adressing their OL problems. The Bills let two holes at C and LG become wide open this off season, and have a huge mess at LT with Peters contract. Why cut Dockery and not replace him, he only saved .5 mil in cap space. Yea he was not the best, but better than what we have now. Signing one former reserve center is not enough. Having Peters deal still un-resolved is not good, I expect another hold out. Adding TO is a marketing move. Instead of spending 6.5 mill on TV ads to sell tickets they spent it on TO. Thats how that deal should be viewed. Now if the Bills want to build a winning team, which it would seem like they dont, they will focus on the trenches.
-
I am completely agaisnt trading for gonzo. The Bills are not in a position to win the superbowl anytime soon. Thats the only reason a team should give up a high draft pick for an old declining player. TO is a marketing move, not a move to get us to the SB. Gonzo would take a 2 or 3, I would rather draft one of the numerous TEs in this draft with that pick and have a TE for 10 years not two.

Agree or Disagree With "Tom Brady" Rule
High Mark replied to McBeane's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The NFL has been on its knees for Tom Brady since Bledsoe got injured. What about the rule where if Tom Brady thinks about throwing (you know, what EVERY QB does when they drop back to pass) decides not to, then fumbles...its not a fumble. You already couldnt tackle the QB in the NFL. Im sure everyone remeber the highlight of Kiwi from the Giants having V.Young wrapped up and letting him go because he thought the reffs stopped the play, and Young going on to run for a first down. What about the play when Bengals DE Justin Smith bear hugged Bruce Gradkowski, then slowly placed him on the ground only to be flagged for roughing the passer (And yes, The ball was not thrown, he got a roughing the passer call ON A SACK) Add in the fact that play was on 4th down at the end of the game and would have sealed a win for the Bengals, but the Bucs went on to win after that call. If the NFL wants its star players to not get injured, maybe the star players shouldnt be suck pussies ike Tom Brady.
