  1. Hey, remeber when Brees was a FA and didnt draw that much attention from the league? Yes, the same Brees that was 14 yards short of Marino's single season yardage record this season. Remember that same year the Bills really needed a QB? Remember the 6yr, $60 Million dollar contract that he signed. You know, the one that looks like table scraps only a few years later? I remember all of those things. I hate you football gods. I hate you Ralph Wilson.
  2. the Bills could franchise him untill he croaks as long as they dont sign off on their Franchise tag rights like the Bills did with Clements a few years back. I say screw him, if he comes in late and out of shape, then I want him on the bench. I dont want him coming in a game late and letting in 11.5 sacks on the season. If he comes in late and is not playing well, or Chambers is playing well, let the two time pro bowler ride the pine. Dont let Peters absence affect the line play. We will see what kind of leverage he has after he has spent a year on the bench. If he pouts more give him another year on the bench. If he has been that big of a B word, then franchise him out of spite. Bottom line is the Bills are in a position to ruin the guys career, make him realize that. And for the record, I am in favor of just paying him market value and letting him come to camp on time.
  3. Football is a great sport. It has been for years. There are no need to these changes, or any changes for that matter. Who cares how many people are part of the wedge on the kick return? Thats how its been done since the invention of the kick off. I hate the horse collar rule more than anything. One player in the history of football, TO, gets hurt from this type of tackle on a fluke play, now players basically cannot tackle a player from behind if they cannot catch them. Football is looking more and more like soccer every day.
  4. Josh Freeman sucks. On second thought I can see why you think he would be perfect for the Bills.
  5. Hardy should have picked 19.
  6. The TO gamble just achieved 100% success for the front office, Greatly increased ticket sales and now got us on Monday night for the first week of the season.
  7. Whats the out look on Bradys knee. Is he going to be ready for camp? If so, any minor setback could keep him out of the game. Under Dick, the Bills seem to get worse as the year prgresses, so this really could be the best scenario we could have hoped for. We will still finish 5-11 but it could be a really nice win.
  8. I agree. The success rate for OL in the early rounds of the draft is higher than any other position. If we can come away with a trade down/extra second, I would love to see 2 OL and a DE taken with our top three picks. Those 2 OL have a great chance of becoming quality starters in the NFL, and we need the pass rush. The OL has only 5 starters, and unlike other position teams rarely if ever substitue them during a game. The position is so important and aside from depth players, you need 5 good ones. If you have 4 good ones the whole group may stink (ala Preston/Fowler). Draft some OL early and often.
  9. A source is telling me (the source being my brain) that only one QB will be taken in the first 15 picks (maybe two if a team trades up). Just look at the teams drafting in the top 15, the Lions and 49ers are the only teams who actually have a need at QB. You could count the rams if you dont like Bulgers age, but the rams will take a tackle. The 49ers have a handleful of mediocre QBs to play for them, you better believe that Singletary is going to draft defense or Oline. The only reason someone will trade up is to leap frow the Jest at pick 17, aka the only way two QBs are taken.
  10. I bought one of the chinease rip offs from ebay a couple years back and I like it fine, cost me about $45. I would recommend getting one of these for $45 rather than the screen printed ones for $75 from a store. Has anyone tried ordering more than one from the site, can you share the shipping cost? You could get three of those jerseys for the price of one from a store.
  11. His upper body is huge, but what about his legs? As an athlete you need powerful legs and a core to support both, not just chest and arms. His sluggish combine workouts indicate that he did not strengthen his legs enough to carry the upper body weight. As a college athlete I have seen first hand what happens to kids who put on a bunch of upper body muscle and ignore the lower body. Lets just say its not a pretty sight watching somebody built like Johnny Bravo run. There are not too many players who are bigger risks than Maybin in this coming draft. He is a completely different person now. He went from playing at a safetys wieght to a big LBs, with no tape on him to the latter. Very risky, too risky for 11.
  12. I agree, the owners and current players should both be in favor as it saves owners money and creates more cap room for vets to make even more money. I dont like your proposal though, one year contracts with just exclusive rights for only one year gives the rookie too much leverage to leave the team that drafted him for a more successful or home town team he wants to play for. I would like to see a system designed more like the franchise tag is designed. Just like they average the top 5 salaries at a position for the franchise tag, they should average say the 10-20th highest salaries at a given position for the top ten picks, average the 20th-30th highest salaries for the 10-20 picks and so on. The rookies contract should not be able to exceed the averaged figure in the first year, and be restricted to grow say 10% per year for the following years (the NFL has some rule like this in place about the growing $ to be paid per year, that is why Jason Browns contract was voided recently). Just as the rookie market works now, if the QB drafted 1st overall, they would get the max money allowed, but then a QB drafted say 10th would get less and so on as that player was drafted later. This way allows teams to lock up rookies long term, for a cheap prices. It would also allow teams to free up cap space over the years (because of cheaper rookies) and thus be able to pay players who proved themselfs more money with their second contracts.
  13. Maybe they will cut Haynesworth and Laundry we can sign them.
  14. I never liked him at Penn St either, he looked more like a blitzing safety than a DE Meaning he played with no power or strength. He was only successful when he was able to get around the edge on quickness alone. If the LT got his hands on him he was completely neutralized. His incredible college quickness will look average at the pro level. I would much rather have a bull of a DE like Orakpo who can overpower tackles or one with quickness and strength like Brown.
  15. Big, slow, and overrated.... sounds like the perfect Bills O Lineman
  16. Can someone tell me where this Cutler cry-baby sh*t came from? Thanks
  17. So dick must really have some serious beef with this guy, first putting him on IR when he was going to miss 2 weeks, now refusing to resign him even though he has nowhere else to go (assuming he will consider a Buffalo offer). Whether its Crow, Brooks, June, or the Colts guy, the Bills would be dumb not to sign one or even two of them cheap. They have no interest from other teams and we have a big need. Dont forget we have two LB's coming back from knee surgeries too, and if the past is any indication count on one of our LBs missing significant time this season. I hope they arent panning on using the draft to fill this hole, we just have too many. When the draft rolls around and all the DE's are gone and the highest player rated on your board is a LB, take him anyway, take Pettigrew, or reach for a guy, just dont count your chikens before they hatch.
  18. Easily... with our millions upon millions in cap room. Dont give me that small market crap, these players are investments. You invest money in a player because he will make your team better and thus more profitable. We have a bad team because we spend like a poor franchise, not the other way around.
  19. I want to know where the idea of finding a quality LT is sooooo hard came from? All you have to do is draft one early and it seems like 90+% chance you are set. The Broncos got a Pro Bowl caliber LT last year at 12, why cant the Bills get one this year at 11? All of the tackles taken in the first last year, aside from the Lions kid who was injured, started and played well at LT. There are 4 top tackles this year, and a few more that are second half of rd 1 guys, if Peters is traded I am not worried about finding a replacement, hell Id be ok with Chambers.
  20. The same thing we have now...nothing. What makes people think that we are going to spend 11.5 million on anything if we dont pay Peters. If Peters is not extended, the Bills are not going to go out and spend the money they "saved" on other players. Thats how they end up being 30+ Mill under the cap every year. Just pay Peters, because the notion of us spend that money anywhere else is a fallacy.
  21. Heres a lnk to the video of the 40. http://blackandteal.com/2009/03/12/andre-s...-pro-day-video/ After hearing how bad he looked, I was expecting a lot worse. Thats what a 325 lineman looks like shirtless (maybe a little less man boob action though). Peters and Walker look like that shirtless no doubt. I still think that he will be a good player in the NFL, he was just too dominant in college not to be while playing with all that weight.
  22. I have no idea why Maybin is regarded as a top prospect. There is nothing about him that is better than all the other guys out there. He has a quick first step, Browns is quicker, so is Johnsons, Barwins, and even Larry English. He plays at a WRs weight. Maybin will look like Chris Ellis did this past season during his career. Kiper sucks somethign awful, I could do what he does with more accuracy.
  23. Here is another post on Smith, somewhat contradicts the other report. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...NFL&id=5099 States that Smith weighed in at 325- his lightest weight in 3 years, was impressive in his position drills, and was not winded once the drills were complete -- implying he was "inshape" and could carry his weight.
  24. I wonder what Jason Peters would look like running the 40 shirtless. At least his man boobs would propel him to a 4.7 40. But honestly is anyone suprised he is flabby? You could see it thought his pads all season. Peters and Wlaker are flabby. A. Haynesworth is flabby. I posted before that maybe this is just how he has always trained, and he figured he workign hard enough as he dominated the SEC for 3 years. He is high risk high reward, the risk is too high to gamble on him in rd 1, but the reward to great not to gamble in round 2.
  25. The Bills have signed enough guys (TO), to sell tickets. I think they are done.
