McDermott hire further diminishes Whaley
atlbillsfan1975 replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Last time they were in the playoffs they made it to the NFC Championship game. They were in the Super Bowl in 1998. We like the Bills. Be quiet -
speaking of blurred lines- In Atlanta there has been a calling for Dimitroff's head for years. All along Arthur Blank kept adding more people to the Front Office while firing a HC. The Falcons told fans and media that Quinn was going to work with Dimitroff in final say of roster, but ultimately Quinn picked his final roster. The media has made a very big deal of the Whaley press conference this year. Blank got a relative pass for his very strange press conference after the Mike Smith firing. Last year there was not really an end of the year presser when the Falcons imploded down the second half of the season and missed the playoffs. My Point is this- What happens inside the building with those relationships is much more important than how we or the media see's it. Also now that the Falcons are winning everything is ok. Same pieces are here, just were given a year to grow together. Ryan looks like the MVP and Shannahan looks like the greatest OC. Let's hope McDermott is interviewing the Bills just as much as they are interviewing him. This coupled with him being offered and accepting the job will go a long way to getting the Bills back into the playoffs.

I have always like having an ex HC on the staff of a new HC. Preferably on the opposite side of the ball. We saw how well the team and D did when Schwartz worked w Marrone. An ex HC gets what a HC has to deal with, If the two develop or have a good relationship it will pay dividends on the field. In a win now league, the HC needs to asses what the talent is on his roster and find a cord he feels can work with a win with that talent. The Bills have a very powerful run attack on O with a very good line.

St Doug officially head coach in Jax.

That stinks. Bills fans know all to well what an owner over stepping his area of expertise can lead to. -

The Bills went 7-9 with that. Who cares if they don't resign all them. Pick some you like and sign them. -
Browns fire Ray Horton to hire Greggggg

Don't HC do this? You are right in, maybe you do hire Cords and then go hire HC who they like? The Castanza Approach....do the exact opposite -
Didn't Berman coin the phrase ' no one circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills'? Berman is a part of the Bills 80's and 90's success. We would go to a local sports bar to watch all the games. I would then go home and watch Primetime to see all the highlights and watch what our upcoming opponent had done. Sorry guys, say what you will about him, but Berman will be interwoven with some very special times for me in Bills history. His bit got old for sure, but it was great . Thanks Berman for fond memories!

Kyle Shanahan for Head Coach. Here is why...
atlbillsfan1975 replied to dezertbill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What a difference a year makes. Last year Shannahan passively aggressively alienated Roddy White. Matt Ryan didn't have anything bad to say about Shanny but also didn't have much nice to say. Shanny was viewed by many as the single biggest reason why the Falcons went 6-10 last year. Now everything is working great, mostly because Matt Ryan has figured out the O and has tremendous play makers. Ryan is also a top 5 QB who is not relying on Julio Jones to bail him out as much. I listened to a lot of these Nationa media guys doing interviews on local sports talk about how Shanny was living off the coat tails of his dad. That in the NFL circles Shanny was seen as an arrogant guy . I don't think Shanny is going to be what you want in Buffalo. -

I remember it all to well. Sitting at home watching the game here in Atlanta. My dad at work calling every 10 mins for an update. What a game, what a day! It will be so sweet when the Bills get back there and win it all! -
GM Doug Whaley's end of season press conference
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Rico's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have to be honest i had not listened to Whaley's press conference. They played part of it today on Atl sports talk radio. He sounded bad. The entire situation sounded bad. It got me thinking if Whaley wants out. Could Whaley be making a case for why things are bad? He does a good job of distancing himself from the entire Rex decision. IF i was Whaley and had any hope of ever being a GM again, i would get out of Buffalo now. IF what Whaley said is true and the Pegula's and or Russ are this much involved, Whaley needs to move on. Take a step back to go to a winning organization in hopes of building back your reputation. I do not think Whaley is a fool. You do not get to where he is by being totally inept. One thing is for sure, the Pegula's are not looking good. -

Harbaugh is the choice for college coach to NFL. Bills need to develope a QB and win. Harbaugh does those things. But paying someone a ton of money doesn't mean they will do a great job. -
The word 'preliminary ' can mean anything. Whaley 'hey we are interested in resigning your client , possibly to a multi year deal' Alexanders agent 'we are open to hearing what you have to offer' Having said that, I would sign Alexander to a 2 year deal . Incentives based on D production . Alexander is a great character guy and solid ST'er. For those reasons he will find a home. If some team is willing to throw a boat load of money at him and disregard his age, the Bills should shake his hand and say thank you for what you have done.

Oh look neither Ohio state nor Washington belonged.
atlbillsfan1975 replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in College Football
This is a different view for sure. I think it has to do with the emphasis placed onhigh school football in the south. Weather can play a role in any game. i don't think it is entirely unrealistic to think a Big 10 school would have a better chance of winning in the snow. I do think if you look on a lot winning college programs you will find a majority of players from the south and California. -

The south rules college football. -
Gotta agree with some of what Bart said. Good thing is the D will get to prove themselves next year. Or will we hear that a new DC with a new scheme is why they are under performing? As for Marcel and the Rex D, the one guy's opinion I would like is KW. KW has been very quite, I feel like he was more vocal when Freddie was here.

No way. Look, the Offense has play makers all over it and a solid line. Ask yourself this question, when McCoy had that scare in the SF game, did you think 'there goes the season'? You know why, because you knew and so did i, that Taylor can not carry the team. Taylor was holding this team back, he has for two years. It is not Taylor's fault, he is not a bum or a bad guy. Taylor just is not what the Bills need at QB with the weapons they have. The Bills would be better served with an aging vet who still can make all the throws but may be done in 2-3 years. If the Bills could somehow do what The Cards did a few years back when they found Palmer and resurrected his career, we would be fine.

The problem is that these guys let their personal opinion get in the way of how they played. Many of us see it on a smaller scale in our work places. An employee doesn't agree with management. Instead of sitting down and working through things, the employee does passive aggressive things to show displeasure. We all got to see poor tackling defenders out of place and sometimes juts not trying. Sad when you consider what they get paid.
