  2. Building the OL is done best through the draft, and good franchises don't buy OL's as Buffalo tried to do in 06-07. Our store-bought line, now dismantled, was vastly superior to its predecessor and was one of the strengths of the team. Our below average QBs throwing to diminutive receivers have often had all day to throw. In spite of facing eight in the box just about every game we somehow managed a respectable yards per rush.
  3. Well, they used to have one of the top 7 or 8 PGA tour events, they couldn't find a sponsor and completely ran the tournament into the ground.
  4. Is Russ going to do anything about this? Isn't it against league rules? http://blog.syracuse.com/orangefootball/20..._of_moving.html
  5. Why are we even looking at this guy. He's only 5'11".
  6. Gil asked Bruce to talk about the things he did to separate himself. Bruce talked about how playing basketball in high school helped his footwork, quickness and hands. Then Bruce described for several minutes about how his sack stats were distortedly low because he played in a 3 - 4, and noted that the late great Reggie White whom he has tremendous respect 4 played in a 4 - 3 with great ends taking up double teams. He stated he wanted to educate fans about how much more difficult it was to put up huge sack numbers playing in a 4 - 3 so that fans could make up their own mind about who was the greatest DE of his era. A lot of people don't like the fact that Bruce is constantly tooting his own horn. I think its regrettable he has to, having watched him completely blow up the opposing team's Oline on just about every play for 15 years.
  7. TD was a failure but hard to call it a Ralph mistake. When TD was hired he had the best resume of anyone out there. When Ralph hired TD he was doing what everyone wishes he would do now, proceed according to conventional wisdom, hire the name football guy with a track record, hand over the entire operation to the football guy.
  8. Fisher was coaching out of a trailor for those early years and as the franchise was threatening to move, gearing up to move, and eventually moving. His 8-8 seasons were properly seen as translating to 11-5 years in that environment.
  9. Yeah, that'll show 'em. Maybe with the terrible sales they will have to move the team. Oh, wait...
  10. The present NFL playoff format is in a state of Zen perfection and should not be disturbed. You have to have a good year to make the playoffs which is the way it should be. If you have a great year you should be rewarded and the present format does this with the bye and the home field to the top 2 seeds. The playoffs are missable in the NHL these days, but remember when 16/21 teams got in? The was the extreme in a watered down playoffs.
  11. Hate to say it, but it could be a good thing if Jackson is bottled up today and looks like no more than an average #2 so he stays relatively under the radar making him signable. Lets win with our long term contract players today.
  12. Amazingly similar games. Both had rocket arms, great foot speed. Both utterly oblivious to the rush. RJ may have been the most oblivious of all time. Both used the "sacks don't hurt" flaw of the QB rating system to build up decent stats. RJ was more fragile, JP was shorter. Both bad game managers. JP was worse at the short range touch pass.
  13. If Collins wins one home playoff game this year, he will have brought three different teams to a conference title game. Has this ever happened before? Its tough to list QBs that have brought two different teams to a conference title game (Craig Morton, I think). Collins can lay claim to being the greatest bona fide journeyman QB in league history.
  14. Finally something so irrational that it motivated me to make my first topic post. Season is over, no QB could play worse than JP the last 6 quarters, JP is a lame duck, Gibran needs the reps, we all need to see if he is at least back up material, losses are wins at this point in terms of draft stature.
  15. a few others that might have been appropriate in view of the way the season has gone: slip sliding away - simon and garfunkel free fallin' - tom petty
  16. if we win out the wins would be our first second third and fourth best wins of the season.
  17. This is a disgrace. If the Bills were an overachieving bad team and not a grossly underachieving decent team this would not have happened.
  18. yeah you have a shot at a ten win season (A TEN WIN SEASON!!!) and you rest your starters
  19. im sorry. i don't post that much but overloading at dt might be the smartest thing a team can do
  20. fisher's first several years were when the team was half out of town. he was coaching out of a trailer. those 8-8's early in his career were effectively 12-4 seasons all things considered.
  21. Kurt Warner is an NFL hall of famer - grocery clerk to superbowl mvp is all time NFL rags to riches story (Namath is in for 1 game) - 2 league MVPs (on an extremely short list) - performance during three year period 99-01 is the conversation of greatest 3 year stint of all time so, he may have gotten in if he retired after 01. if he - wins mvp this year or leads cards to superbowl appearance, he moves to first ballot if he gets 2nd team pro bowl or leads cards to playoffs this year he gets into a conversation for first ballot
  22. watch it cpa. do you want to get t-boned coming over the middle? why don't you talk about the play at 9:10 of the 1st half youtube video of that game.
