Tom Brady had elite defenses and won many playoff games with totally subpar stat lines, including his last SB in NE. Some of those wins he had a similar stat line to Allen's terrible playoff game vs Cincy. We don't have an elite defense this season, and I doubt we'll have one soon. Best bet is to stack points and get teams out of their offensive game plan (which would probably be to run it all over our soft defense).

While not an official practice today for the Texans, Stroud was listed as still in concussion protocol so unless he practices tomorrow in some capacity he is going to be out for the Bills game but there are already reports that he is going to be out for the Bills game.

I was wearing out friends and family with my desire to replace McDermott with Johnson for the last two offseasons, to be honest. Crushes me that we haven't paired a HOF QB unicorn with a young, aggressive, PROgressive offensive mind like Ben Johnson. Someone from the McVay/Shanahan/Kubiak trees and/or college ranks, which is Johnson's exact pedigree. Someone to redirect organization focus onto forward thinking approaches to everything, with a specific emphasis on QB success. **Especially love Johnson's response here when thinking of Allen's particular passing skillset: he is not a guy who naturally excels at the jump ball or back shoulder throws. He's a guy who really likes to see the separation. (I'm sure he and Diggs had a bunch of pitches and catches that disprove all this, but then again, that would also speak to most fans' frustrations over not stacking the WR room with dynamic playmakers who could be scary working with Allen.) So many midround WRs in the last few years (Franklin, Horton, Tez Johnson, Metcalf LOL etc...man that Justin Shorter pick wtf) who seemed like no brainers could have helped, but of course replacing Coleman with almost any other pick (Worthy, Pearsall, McConkey or a diff position all together) would also be impactful. Shakir was a solid pick. Anywho... Beane has always been a big WR guy by nature. Allen's first WR room was bonkers, in retrospect.

Agree across the board. Just can't suffer McD's methodical smothering of the roster's and fanbase's joy any longer. Gotta unleash the beast (Allen) early and often each game to get him engaged WHILE ALSO being able to transition as games play out to a more physical, ball control approach.

And Josh might only have 27 throws You're going to have to be able to do it every single way.. if you don't do it on the regular season you're not going to do it in the postseason... Can you win holding a team under 21? Can you win running without throwing good? Can you win throwing without running good? Can you have a game-winning drive? Tom Brady was a very different QB than Josh Allen. Allen is a flesh and blood, authentic human being capable of transcendent performances at the highest levels, and with that one will have to endure some missteps and hiccups and frankly bad reps. Tom Brady, on the other hand, is a pod person or android designed for self-improvement, relentless competitiveness, and repeated fundamental execution. Complementary football made so much sense with Brady, especially early in his career when he wasn't great yet. Allen would be better maximized through a more Daboll-like, attacking approach to offensive football. Can sprinkle in the methodical, physical dominance as the game wears on and hopefully a lead is established. Edit: if we Bills faithful die without ever seeing a TRULY Allen-centric organizational emphasis, it will be a great injustice. Isn't that why a defensive head coach would make sense? McD should be able to cobble together an opportunistic and aggressive enough defensive roster of hungry young dudes and assignment-sound old dudes to sufficiently complement an Allen-led offensive WAGON on the other side.

Allen has never played well in Houston, losing there three (?) times. I think the Bills lost there in 2018, 2020 (playoff game) and 2024. Also I read on here or Twitter or somewhere that the Bills haven't won there since 2006. All's I'm hoping for is a win in 2025. However, this place is house of horrors for the Bills and this year will be no different. Too many turnovers, Josh never getting comfortable, and Jimbo not quite getting the run game going. He literally gets the groceries and tries to cook them He does not bring in the ingredients... We also got them way more banged up in the playoffs We went in the arrowhead more banged up and lost by three... I know this is hard, but try to stay with me: 1) OP poster says "There hasn't been one player that they drafted that is no longer on this team that is remotely any good, outside of Edmunds," (exact quote) 2) This contention could be disproved by listing one player other than Edmunds who is remotely any good 3) I listed 11 players who should be considered at least "any good" because they have continued to play in the NFL for years after the Bills released or traded them, despite the yearly influx of cheaper rookies. Some have started for years. 4) Therefore OP poster's contention is disproved. QED. It must be highly disconcerting to lose your ass by laughing. Perhaps you should hold onto it with both hands; only think how inconvenient to lose it! Without an ass, from what orifice would your poo emerge? It could be detrimental to your social life or enjoyment of meals. Punters are players. Every team has one because they fill a critical role. ST can turn a game and we all howl when it does. However, if you wish to exclude the punter and the primarily ST guys (even the one who led the league in punt return yardage) it still leaves sufficient players to disprove OP poster's contention (since one would suffice) We do understand that players who "bounce around the league" (get picked up by different teams) are in fact "any good", because otherwise the teams who sign them would take younger and cheaper guys hot out of college and undrafted. Freaking ty. The other teams actually want us to play small ball. It only benefits them, not us. McD runs a bend but dont break defense. Always has and probably always will. Now I am not going to say that the defense is good... but in the past it has been excellent (accept against the Chiefs in the playoffs) it worked so well because it caused other teams to play small ball. The more attempts they had on a drive the more chance they had at making a mistake. Our D thrived off turnovers. It wasnt good between the 20s but it was good at getting turnovers. This is what people want us to do to ourselves. Run these long 12-15 play 7-10 min drives. A single mistake happens and the drive is over unless Josh pulls off some miraculous play. At the same time we are limiting our own opportunities with the ball because we are shortening the clock against ourselves. You cannot play like this all the time. People expecting a QB to be perfect all game every game. Its just not going to happen.

Sounds like the last past 8 years, I think by now it’s safe to say it want change. This is who McDermott is.
