Who is our worst match up in the AFC as of now?
dorquemada replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Until we have a defense that shows up in big games, it'll be the Chiefs we can't beat. Their defense makes big plays in big moments, ours plays small. Maybe the obscene amount of draft and FA capital will make all this change but seems like we've heard this song before -
Reducing everything to “orange man bad” shows you lack the intellectual capability to understand opposing arguments.

The more Bulldawgs the better. Just ask the Eagles. -

On the punter thing, call me crazy but I like Camarda. He is crazy athletic and gets rid of the ball quickly. Punters seem to do better in their second stop anyway. Beane specifically talked about how much they liked him pre draft a few years ago. It's his job to lose IMO. Robbins is a nothing burger to me. The punter competition to watch around the league is Ryan Stonehouse vs Jake Bailey in Miami. The Dolphins brought the Titans special teams guy over and the first thing they did was sign Stonehouse. The Bills had a chance to sign him, maybe they had no interest, but he went to a place with an established punter, which I think is telling. I do think the Bills would be in on Bailey if released. I hope that Camarda lives up to his 4th round pick draft status, lights it up and we have a cheap guy for the foreseeable future. -
You're correct, living in a constant state of orange man bad is a terrible way to live.

It really all depends on the improved defense. Get pressure on the QB and it won’t matter on the matchups. No pressure and we could struggle against anyone. That said, Baltimore’s power running game is our worst matchup on paper. We are still small on front and can’t stop the run until proven otherwise. -

I honestly thought you were going to say because the new stadium doesn’t have a dome to hang it from. 😉 -
CHOO CHOO!!!

I agree... I havent independantly verified this.. but geez... if its accurate this is pretty telling.

While I’m not a big fan of the soft scheme, specifically last season’s talent level was atrocious. I’d argue the only guys who even stand a chance to start on another team in the secondary are Benford and Johnson. He got a lot from a little, but it eventually caught up.

Well, I found the specific quantitative comparison particularly elucidating with regards to playoff failures. Of course, it is accentuating what it already known.

Well, the last three guys you mentioned are replaceable, and Brown is on his 3rd team and hasn't put up good numbers since 2021. -
He is on one. But the Eagles put a void year for 2029 that has a cap hit of 97 million.

There’s no need to “indict” the Bills’ defense. It’s already been found guilty, beyond a reasonable doubt, of playoff incompetence.

Who is our worst match up in the AFC as of now?

Oh gosh, I forgot about it but I had nightmares last night we lost to KC again in the playoffs and KC went to 4 straight Super Bowls 😭 😭 😭 We didn't convert a single 3rd down all game when I looked at the box score. I missed the first half and got to the game just after halftime. Bills chucked up a TD to take the league but the refs overturned it making it 4th and 1 around midfield. McDermott elected to punt and KC scored on the next drive and the game was over from there. I can't believe they've been in the big dance 5 of the past 6 seasons. Welp, they wasted their next shot in my nightmare!! -

Agree, but . . . Not KC, we know we can beat them and we know how to beat them: play good defense (just have not done that in the playoffs) As for the Ravens, everyone knows that if you keep Lamar from going off-script, you have good odds at beating them. The Bills are good at that and have had decent success against them. He has also had some regular-season success against us. I say it's 55/45 odds with the lean toward the Bills. You can also add that Harbaugh is not a good game-day coach. Despite the reputation, he makes some head-scratching decisions at times. The Bengals are our toughest team. Why? Joe Burrow is a precision passer, and with a very good set of receivers, he can carve up a defense like the Bills' soft zone. It's close, and the case could be made for all three of them, but I slightly lean towards the Bengals. -
If Trump has his way, our economy will resemble the USSR. Yeah, we might have goods made in America, but they’ll be low-quality clones of good brands in the same was Optima was a clone of Olympia typewriters, or Zenit was a low-quality clone of Leica. No innovation, no competition. There will be no incentive to make goods better for the consumer because firms are artificially propped up by the government. What a terrible way to live.

I didn’t know that. I thought Hurts had a mega-contract.

And it reminds me that the timing of Covid sucked for the Bills. Because it meant the last two years of Josh's really low cap hits when they knew he was unequivocally the guy and should have been loading up around him they were instead dealing with salary cap reductions because of the impact of Covid on revenues. It really did come at the worst possible time for what Beane was doing in terms of his long term roster management plan.
