The O-line, when healthy is bad at pass protection. A nonmobile QB back there would be leading the league in sacks every season. Also, it's impossible to claim "losing Hoecht (a guy who has been a Bill for 64 snaps) completely changes what the Defense looks like". Who knows how they would have looked had he not been busted for juicing and played the whole season to this point?

Apparently, the Pats have had one of the seven easiest schedules of the Super Bowl era…the bad news is that a bunch of the other teams on that list won Super Bowls, including the 1972 Dolphins and the 1999 Rams… -

I'll be in the stands on Sunday and putting the over/under at somewhere around 578 for how many times I yell about Bills corners giving too much cushion to Bengals receivers.

We should be more like the Bengals. They went to a Super Bowl a few years ago, remember? Instead of blaming the FO for the Rousseau contract, maybe you should praise the incredible Bosa contract? This seems to indicate a predisposition. Yes, Groot makes $20AAV, but the top DE’s all make at least double that, in the $40-45Mil AAV range. He’s not a speedy, bendy edge rusher, piling up sacks. That’s not what he does, and that’s not how he’s paid, so I’m fine with the deal. Saying it’s not as good as the Bosa deal is silly and fails to give credit for the STEAL that was the Bosa signing. The Big Picture is helpful for perspective when viewing these deals. Bosa might be one of the very best signings in the entire NFL last offseason. And cherrypicking examples with the benefit of hindsight is so worn out here…..

Ja'Marcus Ingram claimed by Houston

I agree it's a bad look on Beane but not because Ingram > Slay - no, that is just crazy talk. But it is bad because we lost Ingram. But to Beane's credit you don't just let Slay move from toasted Pitt over to starting for a contender. The Bills play Philly at least once more this season and Beane is not letting this happen. -

Game week thread - Bengals at Bills (flexed to 1pm ET)

Cincinnati may have a poor record (due to missing Burrow for two months), but if they win out--they could win the division. They will be motivated for this game. Which of the bipolar Bills will show up? The one that trounces the competition like the Steelers game? Or the one that folds like a cheap lawn chair? Bills run game is >> Bengals run D, maybe significantly so Bills passing game will be anemic due to injuries Josh will be average, but will not cause any turnovers (his December record is exemplary) Joe Brady was effective last week, and will be again this week. Bengals run game is not great but they face a porous Bills D Joe Burrow will have an average day in poor weather against a slightly improved Bflo secondary. Zac Taylor is no Andy Reid. (that may be a bad analogy, Reid may be average--but elevated by Mahomes) Only because it's a home game, do I think the Bills will eek out a narrow victory. Burrows win streak against the Bills will come to an end. -
If Kincaid doesn't fumble in the Bills at Cincy game where they were looking to tie it up, game could have went different. Think that was also the game Allen got called for taunting, by ref Alex Kemp

Thanks for this. I was thinking about this. Maybe Josh, Gabe, Cooks, Shavers and Palmer? can stretch them out right out the gate and put some points up quick....... then feed them some rock. -

I think we have better CB's to match up with them now. But worried this is a game where Tre gets burned. Hope our staff is ready to turn to Max early and often. Really the key will be on offense. We have to feed Cook but they need to be ready to adjust when Cincy starts stacking the box like Miami did. Hopefully Kincaid is healthy and can play because our best offensive games have involved heavy doses of him. Would also like to see Cooks featured a little more. When my kids visited Santa on Monday, he asked what their dad wants for Christmas. I told him I want the Bills to stop running the screen to Shakir. Time for Santa to show up. -

We have 3 corners now who can play some man (tried to get a fourth). Burrow is other-worldly against zone, merely great v. man.

That's sort of the head scratcher for me. Slay just isn't an upgrade for Benford, Tre, or Hairston at this point. They've invested a ton into Ingram who is a better athlete right now and can do a little bit of everything on the back end. For Slay to have a major positive impact at this point in his career and the calendar we'd have to have a lot of things go wrong (injuries) and he'd have to start suddenly playing at a high level this year. Otherwise Ingram is the better roster fit.
