  2. I take Brandon Beanes 1 day salary and buy a really cool car
  3. There was a definite hold on one of the third down conversions before half. A pretty huge hold on AJE not called. Kurt Warner has an interesting take on the the one read stuff. He says McDaniel's offense puts so much emphasis on scheming open #1 (and generally does a good job of it) that it sort of deprioritises #2 and #3 so if #1 isn't there it isn't as easy for the QB to recognise whether 2 or 3 will be open. It's an interesting point because I have made a similar observation about Shanahan before. It is why he doesn't want freelancers, because his offense isn't set up for them. It works perfectly if you just paint by numbers.
  4. Like @GunnerBill, despite my initial thought that DQ was a potential trade/release candidate to account for the numbers, he was great Thursday. All be in I am only through the first half of the tape, but he was our most consistent disruptor. Hes also playing a lot of 3T right now, which will likely change when Oliver gets back. Despite playing “out of position” he still saw a lot of double teams. This is a fascinating discussion that I thought a lot about in pre season. The closer we’ll get, the more we will know. I just don’t see any way they’ll add a DL without releasing one. Epinessa, Hamlin, Codrington, Ingram all make a ton of sense to me
  5. I agree the DB decision comes down to Franklin or Ingram. They are not cutting Damar. But at least one of the cuts has to be Dline. They currently have 5 DEs and 4 DTs. They are not going to make that 6 DEs and 5 DTs. 6 and 4 I can see. 5 and 5 I can see. But they are not going with eleven spots on the defensive line. Other than the idea that they cut Ogonjobi without him ever making the roster who else is at risk? They aren't cutting Jackson even though he is a perennial inactive. I think the chances of them cutting Daquan are pretty remote given his play especially this past week, and Oliver, Groot, Bosa and the two rookie DTs are safe as houses. So you get to Solomon or Epenesa pretty quickly and while AJE has played some teams snaps this year Solomon has been a core STer. Cam isn't playing safety though. That is his point. Cam has a very specific role in our dime package.
  6. for your viewing pleasure…
  7. Cam Lewis is getting legit PT on defense over Hamlin. He also plays teams. #3 was the defender who lost contain on the opening kickoff against the phins. I don’t see either guy being cut at this point but I am not so sure it’d be guarenteed to be cam getting cut over Damar.
  8. Yes, it is acting, no different than playing Darth Vader...who wears black for a reason. How much fudge you get paid for this one.
  9. The way the stairs have been designed. Near the front of the 400s there are stairs and railings in the way or close to the way. The reps seem to downplay it, however, I am picturing how this will look in practice. People going up and down those stairs, pausing, being generally inconsiderate will get old immediately. Its the one design flaw I have seen.
  10. Hamlin and Codrington aren't going anywhere. If anyone was being moved to make room for Hancock to see the field, it would be Cam Lewis before Damar Hamlin. But I don't think he's going anywhere either. But regardless of what you and other fans think about Hamlin - McDermott values him too much. Outside of Rapp and Bishop, he's the only Safety to be active and gotten snaps at Safety. And Codrington is our entire Return game. They aren't going to risk putting someone important back there and it's too important of a job this year to go with just anybody. The odds that we get through Week 6 without a single player to put on IR is pretty slim. At least one player is going to get dinged up, if not more. And then it will come down to who's 52 and/or 53 between Sam Franklin and Ja'Marcus Ingram. Off chance if our DE's are all healthy they can move AJE or if all our WR's stay healthy we can move Samuel - otherwise i'd expect them to be here.

  14. So, I heard some stuff recently. The sales are “well ahead of where they expected them to be.” They were hoping to have the stadium full by training camp but it looks like they be there just after the Super Bowl and well before the draft.

  16. Reading all of this has convinced me that signing Cook was a smart move. I was on the fence till now.
  17. Today
  18. You're not right. It isn't that they've been top 10 every year but one. They've been top ten every single year under Sean. 2024 1st 2023 3rd 2022 4th 2021 3rd 2020 3rd 2019 10th 2018 8th 2017 9th It's an amazing thing, even more so as the year before, in 2016, they were 23rd.
  19. Right. That's why the thread is so long, because no one is worried about it. Makes perfect sense.
  20. I think you have your jump to conclusions mat out, look around at the other options if jumped a little left or right, there might be some other options.
  21. Davis isn’t very good; he has slow feet. I call him Zack Moss 2.0. In my opinion, he may be the worst player on the 53. I think Johnson is pretty good. He has struggled a little this year but he’s smart and versatile. I’m fine with him being the number 2. Cook has become a star. The people saying that, “if Cook holds out, screw him, we will be fine because we have Ray Davis” deserve to be tarred and feathered for their horrendous football take. 🤣🤣
  22. And I think I am right they have been top 10 every year bad one under McDermott. One thing you can pretty much hang your hat on is McDermott teams take the football away.
  23. That would certainly work. The counter is, the Bills have invested heavily in terms of assets into their defense, just as the Yankees have with their bull pen. The Bills used their top 4 picks this year, and then extended Rousseau, Benford, and Bernard on big contracts, while paying Bosa, Tre, and the two suspended guys. That’s a lot of assets to throw at defense while you signed the Chargers number 3 and Elijah Moore well after the draft. The Bills didn’t exactly look to find “the guy” there. They looked to find a couple of bodies. My belief, is, and has been, if the Bills are going to win in this era it will be BECAUSE of Josh Allen. With that being said, my philosophy would be, load up FOR him instead of saying, “he will be good enough to overcome their shortcomings.” They have built an elite OL and now running game with the emergence of Cook as a star. If they had a number 1 WR (and honestly maybe even a number 2) they’d win multiple Super Bowls. To do that though, you have to make decisions like, “we will let Rousseau walk and allocate that cap space to a guy like Tee Higgins”. That’s meant to be an example so don’t get hung up on the names but you get the point. You have to say things like, “we have been really good at finding corners that can play later in the draft (Benford, Taron, Dane Jackson, etc).” That doesn’t mean that they are all great but instead of using prime picks there, take some shots at WR because the best ones never hit FA anymore. In order to get an elite WR now, you need to trade for them or draft them. Instead of 1st round CB and 7th round WR, try 1st round WR and 7th round CB. This conversation has been going round and round for months/years. Of course we are all thrilled that the Bills are winning. They absolutely score lots of points. It’s a difference of philosophy and a realistic concern because they have not yet proven that they can get it done when it matters most. For me, it alls centers around the conversation of, “what is the best way for this team to get over the hump? Should they load up on defense and let Josh’s otherworldly abilities cover up for their lack of talent on the outside? Or should they keep swinging to upgrade the WRs, figuring that they can make the offense the Monstars?” I’m firmly of the belief, and was even when the defense was better, that the incremental growth of the defense by upgrading from Solomon to Landon Jackson is way less impactful than upgrading from Palmer to Isaac TeSlaa. That’s the crux of the debate. I want them to keep taking a shot at finding that guy to create the Monstars vs. trying to upgrade from Solomon to Landon Jackson. There are a lot of words here but to reiterate it’s a philosophical debate. “Should we load up FOR Josh or should we load up on the other side of the ball because Josh is so good that he will make everyone better?” I believe the former. Many people here believe the latter. The irony is that both have been proven right AND wrong over the last few years. The Bills have scored lots of points. At the same time, the Bills haven’t had the dudes to get it done in the biggest moments.
  24. All very reasonable. But very much pointing out that winning the turnover battle is NOT a Josh Allen thing. It's a Buffalo Bills thing. Josh is a big factor. But .... Again, the Bills D has been top four in takeaways the last five years, which is just about unheard of, that kind of defensive consistency. 2024 1st 2023 3rd 2022 4th 2021 3rd 2020 3rd That's sensational. And is a huge part of us winning the turnover battle so consistently.
  25. I am concerned. I expect your post and my reply to met by the usual regressive "circling of the wagons". I appreciate we are much much better team since Sean McCollapsy's arrival however when it comes to winning the BIG one, I don't see him as an asset in that pursuit. His decision-making is a concern. So too was the performance of HIS Defence last year and to a lessor extent this year given the fact we have poured a tremendous amount of draft capital and salary cap into that side of the ball. An elite gifted franchise QB hides a lot of warts until it doesn't.
  26. Whether the Fins could dink and dunk, it was 21 all at that point. It just takes a couple of break out runs - which Achane is capable of, especially against a tired defense - to get them into that position. I'm not saying the Bills offense is bad. That would be stupid. But I am concerned there seemed to be a lack of ability to change the course on that side of the ball until the RTK penalty (two three and outs followed by a "punt"). Even if the defense managed to hold, there was no proof the Bills offense could move the ball either. The RTK penalty swing confidence away from the Fins towards the Bills, which led to the win. Without it... who knows what would have happened. Maybe the D would have pulled out a safety or interception without losing yardage. But perhaps we would be sitting here 2-1, because the course of the game at the time of that punt was not looking good on either side of the ball.
