I thought they should have tried to run Cook or even Davis on the previous 3 & 1 to secure the first down and then just take shots to the end zone The reality is Knox is a perfect example of Beane overpaying for a fringe talent player, he is not someone who you can count on to make a big play in crunch time because he does to offer any elite talent skills

Homegrown off-season signings has been the biggest issue with this team. Bernard, Benford, and Rousseau have been mainly invisible. It’s the main reason the defense looks the way it does. The free agent signings have not looked any better with the exception of the two games that Hoecht was able to play. Cook is the only signing to play to his contract. WR signings this and last year have not helped. Other than Beane hitting on our rookie DT what has Beane done. At what point does Josh finally say I have had enough with the WR room and defense. His body language says he is already there. Ryan Miller 2.0. Please no.

Was only able to watch the 1st half last night, which in hindsight was blessing (the first half was bad enough). This team is, sadly (and inevitably) done. Is that the same play that Knox was open because of Davis OPI? Just checking. Pass rush makes it hard for any QB to execute, they sped up his clock all night. They got beat in the trenches and lost the turnover battle 0-2. Not because Knox was open on a play that would have been called back.

Tradtionally discussion of draft philosophies revolve around Best Player Available vs Position Need. And discussions how to balance those issues. But I don't think either of those or a combination of either of those is sufficent and may not even be the correct approach. I believe the correct approach is to focus on how to maximize a teams quality snaps under rookie contracts. Every position of need can be filled in someway in free agency. I don't have the energy yet to quantify this. An example of the decisision making is to evaluate each player in the draft against the players you have at the same position. The evaulation is not a simple "does that upgrade the position". The correct evaluation is does this player increase my ROI at the position. For example you are comparing Rookie x vs Greg Rousseau. And you estimate of the course of the next 4 years Groot is going to generate "1000 units" of performance, at a cost of $80 million. I estimate rookie X could generate 800 units of production at a cost of $16 million over the next four years. Groot costs $8k per unit of production. Rookie x costs 2k per unit of production. So my calculus on this comparison is, I free up $64 million of cap space drafting this rookie, and letting Groot move on. And I need to find another 200 units of production on the defensive side of the ball. It seems have $64 million freed up should be able to add more than 200 units of production. So in this example, while Groot is a fine NFL player, and his contract is inline with similar players second contract, it might not be a good investment. And this analysis needs to be applied to every player on the roster, and every prospect in the draft you think is an NFL caliber player. In my head, I start stacking those $64 million savings up, to use towards getting some true difference makers. I realize this is half-baked, but am looking for feedback on whether anyone thinks there is merit to understanding this "third approach" to draft strategy.

Pegula is not going to fire McD and possibly not Beane either (I think Beane of the 2 should go). However both coordinators are terrible, inexperienced, and haven’t earned ANYTHING is this league. They’ve just waited in the wings until the guy in front of of them left and got the job. Other teams have ex Head Coach coordinators. That 💩 matters. Get them both out of here and hire established guys who have done something in the NFL.

The fact that they can execute a play so effectively makes you wonder even more why Brady is so vanilla on offense. Its just ridiculous. we dont need that level of gadget play every series but maybe a couple of times during a game? I'm so done with the WR screen for a loss or Josh being swallowed up with the pass rush. I'm done with Brady's weak 4th and short strategy. Get that the F out of here.

I agree here... I think we can all debate on if the team needs change... and probably agree it does and potentially radical at that... I think realistically TP will do absolutely nothing to effect that change... and I mean nothing... so the best you are gonna get is Brady or Babich gone at the end of the year... at very very very most... I think despite all of our issues we need to make peace with that or not...

Missed extra point forced us to have to go TD. Could have easily kicked a tying field goal for OT. Not saying they would have won but that one point was costly. But in the long run, it should have never come down to that.
