When Does an eBike Become a Motorcycle?
DrDawkinstein replied to ExiledInIllinois's topic in Off the Wall
We have 2 ebikes, a family bike that can carry the kid and some cargo and a single rider, small capacity bike (usually for me). The family bike is just "pedal assist" and gets you up to 20mph pretty quickly, but that's where the assist tops out so you'd have to be going downhill to go faster. The single is a Class II and has a throttle and goes up to 28mph. They are definitely way more bike than motorcycle. I get the craze because these things are great for the family to get around the city, and helps us 40-somethings relive our youthful days of the 90s. But what gets me is the amount of families I see riding these things with NO HELMETS. I'm a cusp GenXer and grew up before the helmet craze so never wore one growing up, and wasnt a huge fan of the idea going into it. But now, with so much to lose, and how dangerous it can be out on the streets with drivers... It blows my mind that people arent wearing them. I saw a family go by the other day, mom and 2 kids on back, zero helmets... I dont see people getting too crazy on them since we have pretty decent bike infrastructure in the city (Atlanta). Bike lanes almost everywhere we want to go, etc. But folks, WEAR A HELMET. As for kids riding the ebikes or electric scooters, no one under 16 should be operating these things on their own. It's more dangerous than being in a car. -

This bill won’t just hurt people in WNY. It will hit the very people posting here: working folks, veterans, the elderly, and even MAGA who would bury their own mother if it meant Trump could run again in 2028. That’s how cruel this bill is, and how deranged the people cheering it on have become. -

Maxwell Hairston named in civil lawsuit for sexual assault

Surprised that it took until he signed his contract that some women would wait almost 5 years to file or is it just a coincidence ??? It took her that long to remember al the details to tell to a lawyer What ? I hope they do a little more digging with this one unlike they did with the punter ... -

New ebikes, including mountain bikes, are quite expensive but can also be chipped & modded to go over 40mph as allowed motor engaged. This isn't all that fast for bikes considering road bikes can and regularly hit 40mph on flat land.

The Browns are officially leaving Cleveland again

Ohioans are generally good people. Stuck in 1992 but still good intentions. They deserve better than the Browns and Bengals. At least they have the Buckeyes. -
They got better at Defense, because we traded JJ. We still have a hole in our top 6. We got tougher, thankfully.

I want to catch one last game at Rich Stadium late in the year...

Lol The bills play the jets in january. If the bills meet their goals they will get the AFC #1 seed and two games at home. Ensuring 3 games at home. If they fall short of #1 we can hope worst case scenario is 4 games. -
Brandon Beane "might be the most sensitive GM in the entire NFL"?

Attack, or be attacked. I go for the edge rusher all day long. It’s easier to avoid a CB than a DE on every single play. -
Many reasons. Developing nations don’t have the capacity for a welfare net, or even basic services. They do not have the same trade agreements and access to the global market. They don’t have the purchasing power for goods like medicine and raw materials. I enjoy conversing with @Orlando Buffalo because he argues in good faith and doesn’t resort to digging up posts from two years ago as some kind of “gotcha”
