President Trump Cracking down on Crime in our Nation's Capital
B-Man replied to B-Man's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
DC just had a murder-free week, and yes, Dems, Trump did that. As the wailing and gnashing of teeth over the Trump administration’s takeover of the Washington DC police force begins to fade, the results are coming in, and they are nothing short of extraordinary. As of Wednesday afternoon, the nation’s capital has had no murders for seven days, something that had not been achieved since March and something I can find no recent record of in summer months when the murder rate is typically at its highest. Last Monday, when a man was tragically gunned down in Logan Circle just hours after the Trump takeover, Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., took to social media to say that “Trump owns this. No word if the congressman agrees Trump also owns the lives saved this past week. And it’s not just murder, according to the local police union. Robbery dropped 46% in the week after the takeover, carjackings were down a whopping 83%, and violent crime down 22%. Who could possibly argue against that? https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/david-marcus-dc-just-had-murder-free-week-yes-dems-trump-did . -

CIVIL RIGHTS UPDATE: Federal District Court Rules NY’s Non-Resident Carry Ban Violates the Second Amendment. This ruling will, of course, be appealed. The game, after all, is to delay, delay, delay. Still, this is a very positive ruling and another brick knocked out of the gun control wall.” https://www.shootingnewsweekly.com/gun-control/federal-district-court-rules-nys-non-resident-carry-ban-violates-the-second-amendment/ . -

If our pass rush sucks this year, something drastic needs to be done. In reality, we’ve had a decent pass rush most years in terms of pressure rate, but like everyone else on that side of the ball they fold and/or get hurt in the playoffs. Bosa - Jones - Oliver - Rousseau On paper, that’s a Top 10 DL Add in Hoecht and Epenesa as our DE3 and DE4, and I’d contend from what Hoecht has shown, that’s pretty strong as well. Issue then becomes, do the rookies Jackson, Sanders and Walker give us anything? And does Carter have any second year juice whatsoever. Ogunjobi seems like vet insurance for Week 7 if the answer above is no. When healthy, off-suspension, I think we have 4 plus guys in Bosa, Rousseau, Oliver and Hoecht. Then a lot of unknown with Jones at his age and a bunch of rookies/second year players. Given the investment, this Defense better have the pass rush juice of former years that you spoke of.

Odds are it was Chiefs or Browns player given the criminals on those teams.

Having a top 10 passing offense with arguably the best QB in the game is not some mindblowing thing. Also, the idea that you have to have a top 5 pick to get a really good pass catcher is a false premise. The Bills haven't drafted the position well. There are two things that consistently let us down in big moments: McDermott's defense and our pass catchers.

They targeted a US factory last night. I wonder if Putin was sending a message to trump. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2025/08/21/russia-largest-missile-attack-hits-us-factory-ukraine/ “No military logic or necessity, just terror against people, businesses, and normal life in our country,” Mr Sybiha added. The White House has previously said that its minerals deal with Ukraine would protect the country, as Moscow would not dare attack American investments. Explosions were also reported in Lviv, Zaporizhzhia, while air raid sirens rang out through the night in Kyiv.

All this defense needs to succeed is guys who can do everything at a high level at every position.

Clayton and Alexandria Bay are the two main tourist centers for the Thousand Islands on the US side. If you go, take one of the boat tours around the islands. Definitely see Boldt Castle which was a summer house on one of the islands built in the form of a medieval castle. When I last visited it, it was largely an abandoned hulk stripped of its former glory since restoration had started only a few years before. One of the few areas that was still recognizable was the bowling alley in the basement. Over the last 40+ years, much of the Castle and its grounds have been restored. (Boldt Castle) If you go, keep in mind that it's definitely not a day trip from Buffalo. The I-90/I-81 route is the fastest at more than 3 1/2 hours one way plus there are a lot of interesting attractions, so plan accordingly. Upper Canada Village in Morrisburg, Ontario is a living history museum. Many of its buildings were rescued from parts of the St Lawrence River valley during the building of the St Lawrence Seaway in the 1950s (Upper Canada Village). Nearby to Morrisburg are the locks at Massena, NY. Closer to Alexandra Bay is Ogdensburg which is the home of the Frederic Remington Museum. Remington was a noted American painter, illustrator, and sculptor of the American West in the last quarter of the 19th century (Federic Remington Museum).

When you try to find guys who are good at everything, it often leads to having a player who isn’t great at anything. This is especially true when you don’t pay for a position in FA or draft high enough to pick elite skills or traits. -
Haha gotta lose to the Bucs now to give them a false sense of confidence come November.

I think its a tad overblown on the pass rush "sucks". The team was 10th in pressure rate a year ago (with the 5th lowest blitz %), added several young pieces as well as joey bosa. They were also #3 in takeaways which is usually somewhat influenced by a pass rush.
