3rd and 6-8 you have to remain neutral, but have a spy. 3rd and 2-4 yards you can't crash the pocket or line. It leaves someone unchecked over the top or in the flat on an easy route. The rush left someone the ability to get behind the cover 4 zone or cover 2 man (I couldn't tell which it was in that moment). The strong safety came in to cover the pressuring LB and take the tight end. Which KC did wonderfully by bunching their players together - and I can't be certain by memory looked like it drew double coverage on a TE or split at the bottom. There was a Chief down at the short yardage mark that was open for a 2-3 dump, also. Just horrible timing for a bad defensive decision on a beautifully executed KC play likely schemed up by creating the scenario to make that play. ...and. For those wondering...If you try to throw screens on this you're a f'n moron because everyone is already advancing the LOS and the pocket doesn't ever get clean to create a bubble screen. A 3rd and short in a cover 2 with a safety checking down into the box allows the outside corners to press more in hopes that the safety will read the play fast enough to negate anything that doesn't break deep.
