1994 - Kelly & Reed vs Favre & Sharpe - NFL Throwback

This was a great and memorable game to be at. I still think about it often when telling my boys about the old 90's days. -
How many wins do the Bills get without Josh?
Beck Water replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think a key difference with the Pats winning 11 with Cassel and anything the Bills might do without Josh is the fundamental difference between the two teams. The Patriots offense under Brady was built on "do your job" precision and timing. Know who the open guy will be, hit him in stride and let him get RAC. Oh and if you shut that down, we'll run over you until you prove you can stop us. The Bills offense most of the time Josh has been here, is far more dependent on Josh creating something when there was nothing there. So it was far more possible to plug a very average QB into the Pats system and have him succeed. -
I'm not as persuaded. He needs to be better than 2024 for me. Not to prove he can be an NFL starter on a decent defense. But to justify being paid in a non-premium position.

#9 in the AB deal. as I've said (and only as has been reported) multiple times. you are claiming that Beane would have redone the contract...but without a guarantee, or something... The Steelers gave permission for Rosenhaus to talk because of the pick package Beane offered (it was a 1st, even though he didn't call you up to confirm this).

Not to mention, can you imagine Josh with Hill and Waddle?

Chiefs fans will be wailing into the abyss at this. "Disrespect", "how many rings do the other 3 have", "more motivation for Pat" etc. -

Just don't end up in a nursing home or have a cute daughter The last time NYC was great was when they had a Republican mayor. Giuliani cleaned up the streets, but then there's been a slew of Lefties that have since destroyed it again. Sad to see 🙈

So in your mind, "redo of his contract" means no guaranteed money? Oh, OK. And no matter what you (chose to) believe, McBeane refuse to redo his contract. And thus Brown said no deal. The deal was offered prior to the 2019 draft, when the Bills picked 9th overall. Diggs was acquired the following year for the 22nd (far more palatable) overall pick. It's possible the Bills offered the 2020 pick instead of the 2019 one, but again no confirmation that they offered a 1st.

Let’s rank the starting QBs in 2025

1) Josh Allen then all the other losers -
I mean lots of people have opinions in sports media, but I bet Chris Simms saying he is 4th would be in the minority - and Marino is a youtuber. I would bet you if you polled every coach, GM, and player in the NFL that Mahomes would not come in as low as 4 and would probably be first. Stats are not a function of just ability, but also the personnel around him. What Mahomes had to work with compared to Burrow and Lamar last year is not even comparable. Mahomes is in his prime, its not like he is 35 and maybe isn't as good as he once was. As I said, Allen and Mahomes debate has some validity to it, but Burrow cant even get his team to the playoffs and starts in a hole every year and Lamar doesn't have the same post season success as he does in the regular season. Meanwhile, Mahomes wins games and comes through in the clutch moments despite not having the same level of weapons Burrow has had or what Lamar had last year.

If I lived in NYC I’d hold my nose and put Cuomo first.
-
My Trump loathing diehard LW kid who loved NYC, moved there in 2007, is holding out hope for Cuomo and that he can do something "Guilianiesque". Last I was there was 2019, it was great. He moved to Paris right after that, came back in 2023. He said it surprised him how bad it was and that I wouldn't enjoy it there, don't bother visiting. Best thing that has happened there since he moved back was a Wegmans in Manhattan. It's sad

And note the difference between what I’m saying and what the Trumpy wingnuts are saying. Me: unbalanced/unsuccessful in life but with an elevated sense of his own abilities and importance. Has a late middle aged crisis. Lashes out at perceived enemies who thwarted his stupid plans by not supporting him. Them: Deep State operative! Lefty who went to (gasp!) AFRICA to try to set up an NGO!! Killed a moderate Democrat, therefore is obviously a radical lefty Democrat! Are you connecting the dots yet?? The difference between a rational assessment of the facts as we know them vs wild conspiratorial shift-the-blame to the “Marxists” thinking. See Sen Mike Lee. -

Kirby Jackson replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
Mahomes would be my answer because he’s been so clutch. Along the same argument though, you’d pick Hurts over Lamar or Burrow in the same situation. He’s been more clutch. I wouldn’t take Hurts over either of those 2 (and I’m higher on Hurts than most). I try to look at it as if, “every QB was in the exact same situation what would happen?” There are so many other factors. I know Mahomes is clutch. I know Hurts is clutch. It doesn’t mean that I think either is better than Lamar each week in 2025. It depends on how you define best I guess. -
Yeah, I think $12M/yr is more than fair if Bernard averages 2024 numbers over the course of his career. Sure the Bills could have spent the money elsewhere, like they could’ve done with any other position, but then the leader of the defense would be a hole that would need to be filled and maybe Bernard’s replacement fairs far worse. It’s a fair contract on both ends with the potential for Bernard to outperform it.

For a Christian you are weirdly ignorant of the idea of the Christian missionary. I guess Tim Tebow is a radical lefty. -

Pssssst. The Bills have basketball hoops in their indoor training facility, and guys play some pickup half court after practices. McDermott countenances it if not encourages it because he thinks it fosters competitive spirit. When he was newer to the league, you used to see Josh Allen distracted by the hoop goings on during interviews - he would be answering questions with one ear and pining to be over there with the other. Imagine watching 5'8" Cole Beasley doing windmill dunks after practice. -
But have they really been better QB's or just guys who got better stats because Mahomes has had arguably the least to work with weapon wise due to injuries or personnel decisions? Burrow hasn't even made the playoffs the past 2 years as his team notoriously starts each season off in a hole and Lamar hasn't been as good in the post season as he has been in the regular season over his career. Its all in the eye of the beholder, so no wrong answers, just I can get behind the debate of Allen or Mahomes, but Burrow and Lamar over Mahomes just feels like a reach. Here is an interesting question - Who are you going to give the ball too in the postseason with the game on the line and one final drive to win it? NOTE: Saw a wild stat that Mahomes is the only QB in history with a 100% success rate doing that and no one else in history is even at 50% and Mahomes has done it 7 out 7 times I believe it said.

As much as the team would like to, you can't wrap these guys in bubble wrap. Injuries can happen anywhere from the weight room, guys training on their own, or playing in some recreational activity like a charity basketball game. However, if it is something that is not explicitly banned in their contract these guys are free to do whatever and you just have to hope for the best.
