Why Landon Jackson is the next MONSTER in the NFL
RobbRiddick replied to MJS's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am excited about seeing this guy. He looks good on film and also looks like a football player. An old school player. You can imagine this guy on the 85 Bears. -

I think Bishop started playing better late. I think he could take a leap year 2. Rapp is average. Hamlin is serviceable. Interested to see how Hancock looks at safety. Beane wants to see if he fits better at S or Nickel. Some break downs have him playing better outside the box than inside. I think Forest is a flyier more so than competition. -
If he winds up being Chris Kelsay/Ryan Denney, I'll be happy. That is, an edge setting, run stopping defensive end who can pitch in some pass rush in spurts and add value to the defensive line rotation. And before anyone waves away my invocation of those two names: One played 10 years in the NFL, the other played 9. That's a good career. Jackson's a third round pick, and usually edge rushers that fall to the third round -- great DL draft or not -- don't turn into premium pass rushers. Obviously, it's not a guarantee, and I'll be rooting for him to exceed expectations and ball out for Buffalo. But if he can work into the rotation, add some juice, and set the edge, I'll consider him a worthwhile 3rd round pick.

Why Landon Jackson is the next MONSTER in the NFL

His tape does not look good to me. His movements look awkward and slow. Reminds me of watching high school tape, a lot of thinking and not doing. Plays very high too and seems to lack explosiveness. Watching him you dont see a "beast" that is dominating the guy across from him, whether physically dominant, faster, smarter etc. -

With all the draft capital we used on corner and or safety there has to be a PONY in there somewhere! -

I hope we aren’t expecting too much. Jackson has good potential but he won’t blow past too many people. His game is strength. I expect him to become a starter down the line but I’m reigning in my expectations for this year at least. the NFL is a different beast. still love the pick and he’s great value. -
Same with AJ, Daquan, Carter and Dane.

The Battle for Jobs at Safety and Corner.

I was hoping someone would start a discussion about these position groups. I don't know who will win the corner roster spots, but I'm confident it'll be a good group. Safety is where I, and I think most others, are concerned. There isn't one who gives me a lot of confidence to be a solid, above-average start. I can't get enthused about Rapp, Bishop didn't show last season that he was ready (although he may and very well could make the jump he needs this season), Hamlin doesn't do it for me. It seems to me like a room full of backups and projects. One or two need to emerge. -

Unwilling to replace Elam with Ingram vs KC tells me all I need to know imo. That game is why they brought back White and Jackson and drafted 3 dbs. -

His hands are what I notice 1st. They are active at the point of attack, no shouldering his way into the backfield. -
That usually means they lack athleticism for the position. He has all the tools with a motor. Seems like a solid pick.

I like Ingram last season. I though he played well and showed potential. If he can't make it, it means the Bills are pretty good. Same for Lewis, who has been a solid reserve. Right. Fifth round pick has to be pretty disappointing to get cut. -

I think Damar Hamlin is one of the worst players in the NFL don’t understand the appeal. Rapp and Bishop will very likely be the starters. Hairston, Johnson, Benford are the starting corners. White and Strong make the team as does Hancock. After that it’s upside plays like Forrest or we know what we have low ceiling plays like Lewis and Hamlin. -

Bills 4th Round Pick : Deone Walker - DT - Kentucky
Mat68 replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
I can see that. I personally would keep Jones. As much a fan of Walker I am. I would still want to see it on the field first. With a back injury I would like to have a hedge on that bet. -

The 3 down lineman wasnt something i realized when i looked pre draft, but after i heard post draft became a bit more excited. Likely means he had to play run to pass as well as being inside of the tackle as a 4i. Notably Deone Walker also found himself in some 3 down lineman sets (though he benefited some when he was outside more). -

If it means more federal holidays than hell yeah. WWI, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam, Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, Civil War. That's seven extra right there.
