and the ever dangerous walk through where everyone gets injured somehow
-
Too early for this. It took a Herculean Josh Allen game (best ind performance of the year?) at home in the snow to overcome a team with a putrid defense, and even then we got a little lucky in the 4th with unexpected turnovers, pick six, etc. This team is very likely fraudulent. That doesn’t mean we can’t come out of the AFC but we could also very easily get bounced in WC.
-
I do not but I also see Josh playing better a second time around.

don't look now, but the miami dolphins have entered the chat. it's not just la vs kansas city. miami is right there and fighting very hard.

If the Bengals bet the Ravens next week, it is actually not insane that they could still win that division. Here's the scenario: Bengals beat Ravens. Bengals then win out vs Browns, Cardinals and Dolphins. Steelers lose to Miami next week, then to the Lions, beat the Browns, then lose to the Ravens. Ravens lose to New England and Green Bay, then beat Pittsburgh This= Bengals win division. Now, that's a lot but none of it is particularly unlikely. Every season something nobody saw coming happens.
-
He's also had pretty physical roll for his position in that defense. Age plus wear and tear catch up with all these guys.
-
I dont see it as over, I see it as everything cycles. They had their time, now they need to make changes and do a mini rebuild. As much as I hate to say it, as long as they have Kermit and the Walrus, they will always be a threat.

Yea the Indy win for kc was humongous…Indy bumbling their way to a 2-2 closing stretch wouldn’t be enough if the chiefs win out. Indy would have to go 3-1 which won’t happen putting it all on the chargers kc has the tiebreaker over Baltimore also and Miami has one more conference loss. It doesn’t look like it but it’s almost entirely in the chiefs control still. The most unlikely thing they need is them winning out (which we did fairly recently in a pretty similar scenario)

I confess that I’ve been on the “fire McDermott” train at various times…last week I was thinking that if he was fired, McDermott would immediately be hired by the Phins or Jets and would be a pain in our ass for years to come…

We need to take advantage of the fact several of their starting players are out. I will say in the last 2 weeks (wish it was 3) we have seen Brady make good adjustments on offense, and McDermott on Defense. From here on out is playoff football for us, each game is a must win. I am hoping that by week 17 against the Jets, even with a loss our playoff position doesn't change so Josh and the rest of the starters can take 1 snap (to keep their start streak alive) then go sit so they can have a "Bye week". To do that, we need the best record possible between now and then. -
How do we feel about Higgins playing most of the game concussed?
VW82 replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ok fine bad example. Take your pick of other well documented NFL cases of guys who developed CTE from multiple concussions and went through fairly extreme personality transformations as a result. I think you probably got my point. -
What are we apologizing for? Was he not struggling earlier this year?
-
Theyre fine, and Bears fans are fine. This is still a HUGE step forward for that team. Given it's year 1 with Johnson, they'll have the patience to come back next year if things dont work out. But having a legit coach, and seeing what he's done for Caleb's development is enough to get them through to next year. A playoff appearance would be amazing, but not the end of the world if they miss. Even the loss yesterday, it wasnt a blow out, it wasnt a roll over and die game, it was a well and heard fought battle with an established division rival. Easier to take.
-
Yep, especially since Deone Walker for all of the early flashes has graded out as middle to bottom among interior linemen. I am hopeful that an offseason program will lift his play but for now he is not looking like the monster we had hoped he will be.

That Jets game is what made me not jump on the Flutie hype train.

Buffalo is the 2nd best team in the AFC
HaldimandBills replied to Instincts's topic in The Stadium Wall
You have beat the Giants, Saints, Jets, Titans, and Falcons. You beat Miami Week 2 when they were an utter mess. You beat the Bengals when they were missing not just Joe Burrow but Jamar Chase as well. You beat Tampa who was missing their entire offense minus Baker and he was on one leg. You got a quality beat down of the Panthers early in the season when they were a disaster. You have a quality last second field goal win against Buffalo who was missing half their defense and spotted you three turnovers. You have losses against the Raiders and Steelers. All teams have terrible losses this year so this isnt a knock on the Patriots. The difference between New England and all other contenders? You haven't played the Chargers, Broncos, Chiefs, Texans, healthy Bengals squad, healthy Ravens squad, Jaguars, healthy Colts team, Packers, Bears, Lions, Eagles, Cowboys, Niners, Rams, and seahawks. Right now your schedule outside the Bills Buccaneers, Panthers, and Dolphins is all teams picking in the bottom 10 of the draft. Buccaneers and Panthers are one and done playoff teams. Dolphins are going to fire their coach in the offseason and Bills lead the league in man games lost on defense and you were the biggest benefactor of those injuries along with the Falcons. Congrats New England. Playoffs don't lie. -
"We all" definitely did not.

Multiple times. He was attacking the LOS like it had kicked his dog and was repeatedly leading with his face over and over and over again. I think he was second on the defense in tackles, just behind Oliver. There were at least 2-3 of those tackles where he came in at full speed to take on a charging RB around the sticks and paid for it. Then he got up and went and did it again. And again. There are folks who keep saying he's been coming on lately but has been bad since the beginning of the season; I think some of those OG's may have missed the opener.
-
Still can’t get over this…what a collapse. I don’t know what the numbers are, but they have to be in some kind of rare territory to start 7-1 and miss the playoffs. Even with Jones it looked like it was going to happen but with him out for sure now, you really have to feel for Colts fans to have a promising season ripped away like that.

Game week thread - Bills at Patriots*

I’d be more confident if we hammered them at home, but as it was the box score was pretty even. We basically lost that one on turnovers. Bills had 3 (two fumbles, one interception), while the Patriots had zip, this contributed significantly to the “L”. If we can play clean (no turnovers limit penalties) and control the possessions/clock game I like our chances in Mass. -
I already looked it up if we post June 1st him we will save 7.6 million but I think they keep him one more year because there is no replacement for him. I will be harping big time to replace the 2nd level of the defense next year.
