Were We Running Into a Stacked Box?
Buffalo716 replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
An elite running game doesn't get worried about a stacked box It gets drawn up, you block it correctly, execute and it's successful James Cook has had lots of success on eight man boxes in his career.. especially the last two seasons Most of your long touchdowns happen on a stack box.. because you only need to make one person Miss if you get to the second level That shows they were not executing their blocking assignments not anything the dolphins did.. because as I said most top pro bowl running backs salivate at the thought of a stack box Because they trust their vision and running instincts.. you hit the hole hard you just need one guy to beat.. everybody from Adrian Peterson to Chris Johnson thrived in that spot -

Spencer Brown said “They loaded the box well... they came out in base right on the first drive and I personally wasn’t expecting that.” If you read between the lines it's not too hard to figure out what he might really be saying. And considering the Bills didn't score until the 4th quarter, I'd say Brady was slow to adjust to the Dolphins strategy. -

Who do we want, who do we need as our next HC and, or GM?

Thai is plenty logical to me, but I’ll add that 17 has to sign off on the coach. If I’m him, I’m not splitting time on opposite coasts convincing my wife to spend a solid three months a year on a gray atmosphere that is super conducive to football and work but not great for someone used to a different lifestyle who can’t work here UNLESS it’s worth it. Worth it has to mean good culture and fun on and off the field. It’s probably why guys like Knox are still here (although I have it on good authority he was shopped prior to the deadline). Those thoughts lead me to someone proven (say Matt LaFleur if he gets canned) or much more likely someone familiar (Daboll or, here it is from left field, Davis Webb). -
This right here. I can see us losing both these games coming up. Unless we all a sudden we get healthy or our WRs become more talented or the scheme allows Allen to play a little more freely and then the defense shows up then we are done. Like for the season done. I'm starting to accept that this is a down year. I just hope it doesn't continue i to next year.

I'll play the game. Head coach: Not so much a specific person in mind, but a quality I'd like to see is a coach (and staff) comfortable with adapting to changing circumstances from season to season and insid the games. More tacticians, less process. Tired of somewhat mindlessly following the "installed" game plan. Front office: Believe the draft profiles. If a consensus of draft profiles say the same thing about a player, believe the detail to be accurate, good or bad. -

The only thing that I'll give him credit for is i believe when he fired Dorsey, he stated publicly that he wanted to true OC search, but Josh wanted Brady. Correct me if I'm wrong, as it could've been before he hired Dorsey, but McF definitely said he wanted to hire a proven OC. -

It’s not worthy of a thread but we worked out Morgan Fox today. He’s nothing special but he could give us some pass rush from the DT position and (situationally) at end. Would like to see him added to the practice squad https://nfltraderumors.co/bills-worked-out-five-including-dl-morgan-fox/

GM: Ray Agnew (Lions asst. GM) HC and play caller: Klint Kubiak OC: Mike McDaniel DC: Jonathan Gannon Obviously pending the last 2 getting fired. Alternatives that don’t need to be fired would be Mark Brunell (Lions QB coach) and Jeff Howard (Seahawks Safeties coach). -

I’d rather root for KC honestly. That record to me is meaningless. It was fun watching our team go 4 years in a row. Not so fun watching those games. I don’t think that record is really that big of a deal. Maybe if we won at least one of them I might feel different. I dunno. personally I’d rather see the Pats get knocked out early than to see them at the top of the league after one year of new coaching staff. Either way, they are going to be a thorn in our side for years to come I guess. The coaching staff is legit. They have a legit QB. They have a lot to play with to improve their team for next year when they should face a tougher schedule. -

Realistically a stacked box hampers weak running games and weaker running backs I've never met a big time running back who did not salivate at the thought of an eight-man box... Adrian Peterson Derrick Henry Barry Sanders Marshall faulk... Chris Johnson... All killed eight man boxes It hampers indecisive runners.. decisive runners like cook typically hit a hole with a full head of steam... Stack box means if you reach the second level you need to make one guy Miss and you're off to the races Most of the 50 60 70-yard rushing touchdowns happen on stacked boxes.. two high safety with a light box will allow for 5 6 7 yards at a whack.. but makes it tougher too break that big one Cook has elite vision and great speed.. a stack box means he's one hard hit hole away from breaking a big one -
I think that the democrats just embarrassed and discredited themselves. By caving and agreeing to reopen the government without getting any of what they were asking for as the basis of the shutdown means that the democrats just took ownership of the entire shutdown. The democratic leadership just demonstrated itself to be completely incompetent. At the time of the shutdown, I could see the binary arguments that either side was at fault. The republicans were at fault because they are in the majority, controlling the executive and legislative branches of the government. The majority party sometimes needs votes from the minority party and, hence, they sometimes have to negotiate. The shutdown was one of the times that the republicans were being asked to negotiate and they simply said no. From a minority party position, to then say, "okay don't negotiate but you can't have the votes you need," is a reasonable position to stake. To the contrary, for the republicans to say, "we need 7 (turns out 8 votes) minority party votes to stay open and minority party is saying no so they own the shutdown," is also tangibly factually and the basis for why republicans could claim that the democrats were (are) responsible for the shutdown. I can or could see how both parties could blame the other (although I personally thought one party was definitely more responsible than the other). So, for the democrats to now decide to accept an offer that was floated weeks ago, demonstrates that the democrats were never sincere in the positions they staked (at least the leadership wasn't sincere) and have now essentially taken ownership of the entire shutdown. And, after elections that just showed potentially considerably republican vulnerabilities, the democrats have just triggered a decided political turn. I think that there is a real possibility that rank and file democrats will turn on the democratic leadership in DC. On the one hand, the democrats just set themselves back politically. On the other hand, this might just be the event that triggers a tea party like uprising in the democratic party and possibly reconfigures a democratic party that is desperately in need of a massive shakeup. For example, I think that any democratic primary candidate that does not distance themselves from or doesn't demand a change in leadership (aka., removing Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries) is going to have a hard time winning their primaries. I think that rank and file democrats feel betrayed by their leadership and this betrayal may come at a big political price. Maybe?

Agreed. And I really think McSchottenheimer is safe. If I’ve learned one thing about Sean, it’s that he will sacrifice others to save himself. The no show on 13 seconds. Canning Farwell and then Dorsey. DC changes. If the pattern persists, the next logical sacrifice is … the GM. -

If we are entertaining this pipe dream, I’d take a chance on an offensive minded HC No particular order: Kliff Kingsbury, Lane Kiffin or Klint Kubiak. If Kiffin comes to the NFL I would venture to say it’s the Giants job given his college QB is there. If they don’t choose any of those guys or they aren’t available, I wouldn’t mind Robert Salah. However, the minute those “players coach” lose the locker room it’s pretty much no salvageable -

I never know what to think of an analyst looking at the All-22 and crediting incompletions to turning down an open receiver. It requires knowledge of the progression, whether the QB is reading low-to-high or high-to-low, whether that player is even expecting the ball (Brady famously has "clear out routes" where the ball is never intended to go to certain players), whether the "missed opportunity" is early in the progression when the QB is waiting for a bigger gain in a later progression, etc. There are just so many factors, seems like only Allen and Brady would really know. Even something like the redzone INT targeting Knox. Allen threw inside and Knox turned outside. Was it just an inaccurate pass, or did Allen or Knox read the coverage wrong? -
