A welcome thread on an off day, Ethan, thank you. Like Steve Billieve, I play a lot of chess, although, oddly, I now prefer online correspondence games (i.e., one day per move) to over the board games. They're more like a puzzle to solve at my leisure than a tense battle. (I like the Sunday NYT crossword puzzle, too.) Doubles tennis, squash when I can, pond hockey especially. I'm by far the oldest out there every year, but I can still hold my own, at least in my mind.

Good points and it's definitely an interesting argument on who's better. I think it's pretty clear that: -Sauce has had a better total career so far -Benford had a better 2024 and seems like he's ascending. It's really hard to project who will be better in 2025 and onwards. Both are great players

Yep. Literally all he did was say he wanted to get paid at the top of the market for a running back after a year where he led the league (jointly) with 16 touchdowns. His behaviour has been immaculate. I thought he'd hold out of mini camp and would have supported him in doing so, but he even turned up for that. He has done nothing at all to generate the hate he gets from some.

As long as men can continue to lie, there are 2 realities now, 2 divergent timelines. But the rift in the space time continuum will be corrected; time will reveal all lies. The alternative timeline that has no laptop, that has no Burisma, that has no coordinated conspiracy using the gov't apparatus to attack a presidential candidate will all fall apart and disappear forever. Sauce had his worst year in the NFL last year (was still very good) and Benford had his best year. Last year they were close, for sure. I can take an argument as I say that if you isolate 2024 alone your perspective isn't unreasonable. But Sauce has two absolute elite of the elite seasons under his belt. If you look at his PFF grades for 2022 and 2023 they agree with that. And when you look at catches and touchdowns given up and passes defensed Sauce still has a significant advantage. But the Sauce disrespect has gone way over the top. I know he is a Jet and we hate the Jets but he is an absolute stud.

There's still much denial out there. The laptop is real. The communications and documents are real. Meetings and connections took place. The big guy was directly involved. Influence peddling and payoffs. It's all genuine. Sure there's Russian psyop operations but of greater concern is the operation that elements and officials inside our own government were running against America. So there are two crimes here. Running an influence peddling racket. And running and participating in an organized cover up operation. Still some believe in a fake Russian disinformation story and a fake intelligence assessment from compromised former intelligence officials. A crime committed to hide another crime.

But it provides some data helping prove Benford is superior. Benford- better tackler. MUCH more physical. Benford- better at creating turnovers. Sauce possibly maybe a hair better at coverage. But Benford can shut down oppossing WR just as well Benford is ascending. Sauce is not as good as he was 2 years ago. Players trending different directions. Its a what "can you do for me today, not what did you do yesterday league"

If you want to argue that Benford played slightly better in 2024, I could take that as a reasonable argument. But Sauce's first two seasons were absolute elite of elite and he was still very good in 2024. He has also given up fewer touchdowns in coverage in his 3 year NFL career than Benford gave up in 2024. There is a gap after that top four for me. They have clearly separated.

What do you mean you’d have thought McLauren “would’ve waited years for this”? This is the last year of his contract. Of course he wants an extension now. This is the time players usually get one. I understand the Commanders not wanting to give a big contract to a WR pushing 30, but it’s time to do an extension if they want to keep him past this year.
