Teams have all year to plan for the draft and near 2 months to gauge interest in trades once the draft position is finalized. Eh, first round is the money round and sometimes you want a little time to make some phone calls and check on handshake trade deals with teams depending on how the board falls after the first couple of picks come off the board. I think 5 minutes is too tight, especially in the first round where the moves you make are the most impactful, either good or bad. 1 Quote
Brand J Posted Thursday at 02:40 PM Posted Thursday at 02:40 PM Pretty sure at one point it was 15 mins in the first round and 10 in the second which was ridiculous. Quote
Saint Doug Posted Thursday at 03:18 PM Posted Thursday at 03:18 PM Considering every team has “draft boards”, the time they should have to select a pick should be about the same amount of time it takes to consummate a trade. I actually think the Bills do much, much better with their late round picks because they have less time to think they are outsmarting everyone else. Quote
Fleezoid Posted Thursday at 03:25 PM Posted Thursday at 03:25 PM Just do what Mel Kiper suggests. The 1st round would be done in less than an hour. 1 Quote

Agree, frankly I want the 1st round to last as long as possible, I enjoy the draft night. Plus, the time is not for teams to debate who they are taking (they have a board they already know!), it's to make trades. I'm fine with it even being 15 minutes. 1 Quote

Coincidentally, that's about the amount of time Spiller would spend running east, west, and south after he took the handoff. Net gain: -2 yards. 🙁 Quote
KingBoots8 Posted yesterday at 12:44 PM Posted yesterday at 12:44 PM I have a feeling this isn’t going to cut the event time down. Just more time for ad breaks and analysis. They’ll probably make a halftime show at the rate of viewership the draft draws in 1 Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Easiest way to shave off ten minutes is make the #1 pick announced without a time allowed.they have had all offseason to trade the pick. Its a waste of 10 minutes. 1 Quote
