I bet Beane blames Mcdermott for 13 seconds and McDermott blames Beane for the roster and poor drafting.  I cannot believe once again Josh has dumpster fire wrs yet again   Beane should be canned for the sheer audacity of trying to get away with it again

At this point, everyone's just guessing who's more to blame for the roster situation.

I highly doubt Beane unilaterally makes any of these calls. I can almost guarantee McDermott tells Beane his targets & signs off on roster moves every time.

But if they're at odds with each other, that's actually a pleasant surprise. That tells me I've got it all wrong, and at least ONE of them has some sense.

Not sure who, but it's a sign for optimism either way.

I keep seeing people posting about how they think there's some turmoil between Beane and McDermott in a lot of posts on here lately.  I also know that maybe a few weeks ago or so there was a podcast that brought up the subject and they had bullet points about things being said in press conferences etc. that give off that impression.

Personally speaking I haven't really seen anything that would lead me to believe this but I also don't really pay too much attention to things either of them say in the media.  Just wondering if anybody has any inside knowledge or thoughts/opinions if there's any truth to this.  If anybody has a link to the podcast that was speculating about it that would be appreciated as well as I would like to start doing a little digging and research into this as I'm starting to hear more and more people make these claims

It’s all because of the JaMarcus Ingram situation.  Tim Graham described McDermott as “seething” about it.  I just can’t see a way that Beane releases Ingram for Clay without McDermott signing off on it.

McD should be pissed. He has the best QB in the NFL with no one for him to throw to.  Add that instead of drafting WRs he signed mediocre FA who can’t get open and get hurt.

I support Beane in general, but his consistent failure to properly address the WR position is mind boggling and has cost this franchise.

No one for Josh to throw to yet the Bills are ranked 11th in passing with 2,937 yards.  The top passing yard team, Dallas, has 3,581 yards.  A difference of 644 yards.  Dallas has 109 more passing attempts, most likely due to being behind way more often than Buffalo.

So, the nobody's Josh has to throw to are doing pretty damn well.

The passing offense generated 3 TD's vs the Bengals. But realistically, Allen was 2 of them completely. Which is what we get from our passing game. When Allen has been boxed in or the run game is not working, which was the case in Patriots, Falcons, Texans, we just don't have a whole lot. It's turns into screens, check downs, short TE passes.  We literally have to be perfect, which usually doesn't happen because these defenses are usually above average.

This notion that since we are productive as a whole we are fine is failing to look at how that production is happening and how it fails. The missing component of our offense is on time intermediate and downfield passing. We are solely dependent on Josh to create that right now.

You can find it on various episodes of the locked on bills podcast where Joe Marino speculated on it locked on bills episodes that include Jerry ostrowski and Jeremy white.  He references some statements mcdermott has said in various pressers and that he said you barely see the two together(training camp. It's just speculation reading into statements from mcd and I think Beane as well in pressers.

Could be true OR it could be two guys at the top of the org working together 10 years, with immense pressure they put on themselves, and the pressure of finishing the job. After 10 years, with this kind of expectation and money that there are bound to be moments of disagreement and tension. I think if there wasn't at times after all this time etc etc I'd be more concerned.

It's not like rexy throwing Roman under the bus, or Greg williams and their OC at the time, actually trying to get rid of the other lol
