I dont think Beane should've done anything outside of the rules, but I also think that type of thing does happen more often than an OWNER calling a HEAD COACH to all meet FACE-TO-FACE with a PLAYER under contract with a different team regarding a way to push him off his current team, join the ownership ranks, and then come back as player/owner. A GM talking to an agent about a number of players and then casually asking "So I take it your guy Slay is looking to get his way back to Philly?" without even mentioning Buffalo being interested could probably fly under all the radar. Yes, if you NEED more of an apples to appleS COMPARISON to feel BETTER about YOURSELF: Atlanta Falcons & San Francisco 49ers (2024-2025 Season): Both teams forfeited fifth-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft for violating anti-tampering rules by contacting players/coaches not yet free to negotiate. Point is it's AGAINST the rules and you NEVER really know what the league will come out with for punishment. Was SLAY worth the RISK of losing ANYTHING? 1 Quote

CheshireCT Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Does anyone know, is it possible to trade him to the Eagles? I guess not because the trade deadline has passed? Edited 1 hour ago by CheshireCT Quote

Not until the offseason when Philly won’t even need him anymore. Slay basically has to play for Buffalo or retire no one is going to try to trade for him next year Quote

I get that it doesn't seem that useful, but who knows maybe get a 7th in the end? Quote

He doesnt lose any money. His 12 year vet just sits home for the holidays by his own choice. 1 Quote

I’m not sure what happens if he just refuses to retire and doesn’t report lol probably just gets fined a bunch of times. But if he ‘retires’ and tries to unretire we’d have his rights still and he’d negotiate to come back which could involve a trade to Philly 1 Quote

The waiver system applies to all teams, and therefore we had the right to claim him. I've always found the system a bit strange to be honest, but it's the same rules for everybody. Quote

He’s getting dragged a lot this year and not just by fans like me or hot take artists. Vons injury was brutal. He was a beast before it. But that’s the risk you take when you can’t build a DL and have to pay a mercenary. Benford has been out in consecutive elimination games. Yet we still paid him. Hopefully that doesn’t continue. My only issue with the “it’s the injuries” crowd.. because in fairness.. we’ve been bit in big moments whereas Kansas City, against us, has not…. My only issue is that yall think it’s all bad luck. … I don’t. I think a lot of our injury issues lately are scheme (undersized defensive spine), philosophy (ball control offense that can keep scores close) and personnel (older, past injury history and/or finesse, undersized) SC wasn’t our smallest, faster D designed to compete with KC? I get your point that they are prone to injury, but would some other player set be better. I’m sure you would say so. Did the GM miss? This is your beef but what he has done makes sense in the face of a dynastic team. Quote
