I guess it is also who you choose to read. I follow and receive notifications of  posters who I trust with solid football IQ.  and I use an ignore list. It helps rein in a lot of noise I don't appreciate

Im already salty enough about my team right now I don't want to blame fans  for feeling let down after last nights game. I think overall we are a very hardy bunch.  Im not saying you were doing that.

I look at watching the Bills like I treat playing golf.  More often than not, does it lead to extreme frustration? Yes.  Is anyone forcing me to play?  No.  The more I practice and put into the game of golf, the higher the expectations are, and the more chance there is for extreme disappointment.  Just like the more time I spend on this message board, or listening to bills podcast content, the more investee I am in the team and the more devastating the loss.  Sometimes I'm envious of the golfers that play once a year with no expectation and can shrug off a bad round. Meanwhile, I wasted hours at the driving range for similar results.   Just like I'm jealous of the fans that could only name a couple players on the team and don't sulk the next day after a loss.  I guess it's all an exercise in balance with how much you want to put into something vs how much you can handle disappointment.  As I get older I am getting a little more perspective and ability to remind myself that no one is forcing me to watch the Bills.  This year has been a major disappointment but of course, I will ultimately be listening to Bills  content all week and tuning in next Sunday.  This is how I chose to spend my precious free time and if I'm going to have it be a negative in my life, I should just stop.  If it ever reaches that point I will.

Agreed.  They’re exhausted and increasingly appear to be sleepwalking through games.  Maybe if they crash and burn the rest of the year we can divest of some of this veteran dead weight and try again next year though at this point until they get rid of mcd and beane nothing will change.  Terrible drafting and FA signings have built the prison we’re in

I don’t see 3 more wins on the schedule.  Too many injuries and too much bad coaching and game day decision making.  I assume they’ll beat the jets and probably look like world beaters against NE, but I doubt they beat anyone else.

I don't think the team is as far away as some fans think. We still have Allen in his prime, maybe not at his absolute peak but still well near the top of his game. We have some young pieces on defense that have shown promise including an almost completely rebuilt secondary. We just need a coaching staff and a couple legit WRs. The Pats were 3-13, they made a couple roster additions and brought in legit coaches and voila they are 9-2 and in firm control of the division. I simply hate watching this defense.  Aging, undersized defenders who can’t tackle, get pushed around and constantly get hurt.  It’s painful.  McDermott usually finds a way to duct tape it together long enough to give the offense a chance, but it’s no way to win a championship.

Can anyone other than Cole bishop lay the lumber and get a f&&&ing tackle? I can’t believe I’m saying this but he may be our best player on defense right now

Watching the Bills is a little easier for me this season because I don't have realistic expectations.

 

As far as fun, that's an interesting question, because for me personally, the experience of watching a Bills game - especially a close game - is often defined by how it ends, despite everything that transpired previously in the game.

 

In this case, if Gabe is able to get a 2nd foot in bounds, that final Bills drive instantly becomes one of the Top 5 game winning drive in Allen's career for me, maybe even Top 3, considering the 4th and 27 play.

 

So... yeah... that would have been "fun" I think. And a great memory with the Allen to Gabe connection returning.

 

Now, I would NOT have realistic expectations for the team even if we did win, but it would have been an AWESOME ending to the game. Make no mistake.

You never know when the Bills will inexplicably come out with low effort, low energy, unprepared, commit countless stupid penalties, uninspired, and look like complete dogcrap. Just when you about give up on them they play like Super Bowl champs. When they are off it’s torture to watch as you just can’t believe they could possibly be that bad.

No, I'm a bit bummed we didn't win but it was an entertaining game against an amazing defense and we had a chance to take it at the end.  We're 7-4 with good wildcard tiebreakers, so we're extremely likely to make it into the tournament, and from there, anything could happen.

 

It's an extremely high-parity league, and "any given Sunday" is a phrase for a reason.  Our O-line got rocked by an elite D-line and it made our lives very difficult on offense.  It happens.  The Texans' defense is 1 of 1 this season.

No, it’s not fun watching this team.  My problem is that I was so optimistic going into the season based on the schedule. Extra home game.  No overseas games.  Toughest games all at home. Minimal travel.  Couldn’t be any better.  That’s what so disappointing.  Cherry on top is New England being this good this quickly.  The torture never stops.  Only silver lining will be if Chiefs miss the playoffs.

No, I had high expectations this season and when it started falling apart it was hard to witness. The guys they paid not showing up, another first rd bust, no good free agents or trades, etc
