Weird Game for WRs

Gabe Davis was very sure handed today (knock on wood). The slant catch he made was a great throw and catch and the ball he snagged on the crosser was a tough hands catch.

I believe coleman had been that bad that he ruined the right side for the offense.

 

On the right side Shavers caught a long ball, blocked for a TD by the RB.  Gave the offense a reason to defend that side of the field.

It was pretty obvious that Bowles set out to stop the quick pass to Shakir and stop Cook from rushing. And it worked up until the end when Cook started finding some room. But that was because the passing game opened it up for him as the game progressed.

I think faking the handoff to the RB & then throwing a quick pass to them on a quick flare pattern is the answer to that defensive strategy. It really worked today, getting the ball to Cook in open space.

Coleman’s dead weight, I wouldn’t let him step on the field with the effort Davis and Shavers gave.

Watched the 4th quarter of the Broncos / Chefs game.  This is exactly what Payton called to counter Spagnola's aggressive calls and it was very effective.

Shakir has been in a slump.  I don't know if Brady wants to throw the ball to Shakir only at the LoS.

Hondo, I agree the said receivers did well, but Shakir was playing wounded, and this was Palmer’s first game back.  I like the idea of Palmer, Davis, and Shakir, with an alternating Shavers, and for god’s sake, keep Coleman off the field.  Knox btw was open many times and Josh just didn’t tag him more than once.

Lastly, I also like that Davis and TJ were more involved.  Keeps you’re opponent in check if they don’t know who is making the donuts.

They really need to change up the screens and run plays. My mom was calling out the plays the last two weeks. If she can do it so can opposing defenses.

The best case scenario is that Shavers can reach the level of play that we got from Hollins last year.

Shavers should surpass what Hollins did last year.  Feel he is a more natural WR than Mack.

 

And if he gets more opportunities like yesterday, Josh should get more comfortable with him.

The defensive system is fine and the "Golden Coral" passing game philosophy is really starting to pay off.
