Bishop had four pass breakups IN ONE GAME against the Chiefs. 😱 Plus, his hit on Travis Kelce. I didn't realize how short of a wind up he had on that hit. The way he crumpled Kelce I'd assumed he had 10 yards of runway. Excited about his potential as he grows into the role. 1 1 Quote
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) The best athlete we've had at Safety - maybe ever. 6-2, 207, 4.45, 39" vert. Always believed he had a chance and thought some on here were overly unfair in evals early on about him. He can obviously play, just stay healthy. Edited 2 hours ago by D. L. Hot-Flamethrower 1 Quote
Dat Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Coincidence he can play fast and confident when he doesn’t have to look over his shoulder worrying about Rapp coming in and breaking him in two? 😂 Cole was also in there behind on the Hairston interception, but saw him in position and looked like he held back. I remember thinking Rapp would have put his helmet in his back and messed it up. Quote

We could be seeing an evolution of our new secondary. We still have Benford and I don’t see Taron being done. Agreed on Taron. But he’s definitely beginning to decline. I’ve always been an advocate of developing players.. which is why you draft not for players in the upcoming season, but players in 1 or 2 seasons. Given that.. they need to start looking for TJs replacement soon, IMO. I think Beane has been pretty good at this mindset. Of course, not all players work out, but it takes a couple years to really find out. Which makes the draft misses so much more harmful. Bishop is a good example, if he continues to improve and stays healthy… next year; and for many more years, we’re set. If he doesn’t… the secondary is in trouble for years. But it takes faith, a solid and stable coaching staff to develop players, and a player willing to continue working on his game for it all to succeed. Quote

Hancock was a pleasant surprise and I was worried about Hairston after very limited camp experience. Reports were that Max was not exactly tearing it up in his first 6 days of practice, but he sure looks like a player now! The new generation of DB’s seem to be taking hold. Quote
NewEra Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago 9.87 RAS. 6’2 210 4.45 40 39 inch vertical the only knock physically was his arm length at 29 3/4. Turns out, his vertical and explosiveness have negated his arm length. This is what this defense has been missing since Poyer and Hyde’s prime. You could usually count on one of them to get there hands on a ball or two a game and prevent 3rd down conversions. it looks like we may have another difference maker on the back end. McDermott took a lot of heat for not developing him quicker (even with his injuries). If Hancock can take a similar path as Cole, we’re set in the secondary for awhile. Having Poyer out there helping these guys with their keys and calls has been a catalyst for this defenses improvement imo. I’m really glad he’s back side note- I’m fine with cam Lewis as a starting nickel due to his versatility at Safety. He might be better than Taron at this stage in their careers. Less than a year apart in age, but Cam continues to get better. Quote
finn Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago So nice to see aggressive plays on the ball (thinking Hairston's plays, too) after at least two years of catch and tackle (or catch and missed tackle). 1 Quote

Agree with this, it’s a damned shame what’s happened to Dorian Strong as he also looked like he had a lot of potential 1 Quote
RobbRiddick Posted 22 minutes ago Posted 22 minutes ago Wasn't someone on this board complaining in the offseason that Bishop looked too young or too pretty to be tough? Quote
