Lionel Hutz Posted Thursday at 07:36 PM Posted Thursday at 07:36 PM I'm not a fan of Beane but it's hard to criticize the Diggs trade. He had a huge and immediate impact on this team and on Josh's development as an elite QB. Obviously, with hindsight, you'd probably go back and keep the pick and draft Jefferson, but with hindsight Jefferson would also be a top-10 pick. 1 1 Quote
machine gun kelly Posted Thursday at 07:52 PM Posted Thursday at 07:52 PM Entertaining the what if game is a fools errand. We won and so did MN. It’s done. 1 Quote

I didnt see many people on the board complaining that day we traded for Diggs... I did see them lamenting when Antonio Brown shunned us though.... man if I just knew the winning numbers the day prior I could retire.. lol Quote

I am curious everyone else’s thoughts on this. If we hadn’t traded our 22nd pick for Diggs Justin Jefferson falls in our lap that following year. I know this is in hindsight and Beane was trying to get us a solid weapon in which he did. Diggs was great for a few years but I can’t help but wonder how different this team would’ve been for a decade plus of Allen and Jefferson. I should read ahead before posting, but here goes. We all know the bills trade that pick to the chiefs, right? We were never taking Justin Jefferson! Quote
PoundingDog Posted Thursday at 08:05 PM Posted Thursday at 08:05 PM It's in the past, all the what ifs. At this time, all I can say is the time has indeed passed. Once you have paid your QB, to trade for an expansive WR is not realistic. You would have to give up premium draft picks AND big time cap money. So that means you have to draft very well for the rest of the roster. Logically speaking, if you have to draft well for the team's overall success, why not draft well for a WR? That will solve the problem. KC has tried more times than the Bills. We gotta give more tries. In fact Beane has spent a first round pick drafting a WR for the Bills yet. Quote
BuffaloBillsGospel2014 Posted Thursday at 08:14 PM Posted Thursday at 08:14 PM Diggs did exactly what the team hoped and that was elevate both players, I have no beef with the trade at all and wished he'd do more like this deal. 1 Quote

They were definitely taking a WR that year. They decided to take the sure thing instead of the lottery ticket. Considering how well Diggs paid off I'm not remotely upset at them over it. To me the more depressing "what if" scenario is when we took Cody Ford over AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, and Terry McLaurin. That was Beane's biggest whiff IMO. Epecially since it isn't just hindsight, Brown and Metcalf in particular were seen as great prospects with uncoachable physical traits. Quote

Not sure who was available but many are for the right price. He may have had to pay more then. Quote
