That said it was an entertaining two years. it was a bad hire because we invested in building the strength of the team on the defensive side and not only was his plan to dismantle that positive, he also had no plan to do the work to rebuild it once torn down. alas, not the thread for that Edited Monday at 02:34 AM by NoSaint 1 Quote

Man that was tough to watch...Ryan might be a lot of things, but I think deep down he is a good person who cared a ton about the players he coached. 1 Quote

I remember during his Jets days. EVERY player wanted to play for Rex. Guys were saying it while being on another team. Those Hard Knocks episodes were the best of the series. He connects with players on the level of Gruden, Dick Vermiel, and Dungy. I never understood the hate for him. Being an introvert, I get jealous of people who are so easily able to form deep relationships. A lot of these players didn’t have a father figure growing up and Rex Ryan definitely filled that role for a lot of them. I don’t want to derail this into another person, but I’ve always felt McDermott had that same quality just in a different way. A good coach instills more than just football lessons, but life ones as well. Quote

McD's shining moment was the way he handled that Hamlin situation and told the refs the Bills would walk off the field and forfeit the game before they would resume playing.
