Either they don't perform, or get hurt, or take too many years. Agree. I was always a draft/develop guy. What’s the point? Our hit rate on 1st and 2nd round picks is low. For every James cook, there is a boogie basham, AJE, Cody ford, Elam, etc. I would seriously just trade our 1st round pick for Devin Lloyd, who is on an expiring contract and would probably be a 1-year rental. 1 Quote
MarlinTheMagician Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Deone Walker is pretty good right now. But man, some of the guys we missed on - it hurts. 3 Quote
Blackbeard Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Wouldn't we want Damar over Poyer at this point? 2 Quote

Im not to this point, but I’d be fine with Beane trading a 1st and 2nd for an impact WR that we lock up long term. We just locked up a bunch of good, not great, guys in Bernard (debatable), Benford, Shakir and Rousseau. We have our two Tackles locked up long term. Same with Cook and Kincaid. Get a playmaker in here and just keep the mid-late round picks for Beane to draft diamonds in the rough, developmental depth and OL that Kromer likes. 2 2 Quote

Yeah sorry I'd rather the risk of drafting a kid you have under contract for 4 or 5 years than having to rent a guy for one year and then paying him more than said rookie you draft to keep. I get some teams have mortgaged first round picks for veterans (see the Rams) and had some success but to me not the wisest thing to sustain success. 1 Quote

I would certainly trade with them over the past few years Superbowl, down year, decent again, Superbowl contender with new young players whilst still dishing out picks for the things you need (Davante) Take that all day vs always in the playoffs and always a dollar short at crunch time 1 Quote
