I can't think of any other WR doing that. Looking back, can't imagine we traded up in the top 10 to get a bust instead of a HoF like Evans, exactly the stuff for a 17 year draught. Not even picking up a gold nugget like a blind squirrel may. Mahomes showed up in KC with Hill, Kelce, and Jones already on the roster. Allen had none with the Bills. I also think Hill will get in for sure, but may not be first ballot. Quote

There’s been worse resumes that have. He also was 1st team all-pro at 2 positions one year. 9 Pro Bowls, 5 all pros, all decade team and a DPOY award with 120 sacks or whatever is a HOF resume. 2 Quote

Only 3 seasons over 10 sacks and just tore his ACL again. Maybe he’ll come back next year and perform but he really has only had 2 elite seasons and can’t seem to stay healthy. Quote

But I don't think he has ever truly been the best player in the league at his position. He had some nice years, his overall resume gets him in. But no way a first ballot guy. I personally maintain he is and has been slightly overrated most of his career. Quote

Wasn’t Jason Taylor a 1st ballot guy? I think Mack is in that tier. I didn’t look at their numbers or accomplishments but I’m assuming that they are pretty close when Mack is done. Again, he may or may not be but it’s definitely not out of the question. Quote

DrDawkinstein Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Really interesting about DBs... I went back through the last 10 years of All Pro rosters to see if there were names I was forgetting, and there just isnt anyone that stands out. Certainly not like a Rod Woodson or Ed Reed. Best I could come up with as DB is maybe Stephon Gilmore. Maybe Tyrann Mathieu. I think both are out of the league this year. Derwin James is the main DB name that is always around, but I dont think he's done enough to warrant HoF discussion. Quote
dave mcbride Posted September 23 Posted September 23 1 hour ago, DrBob806 said: Yep, once they put Lynn Swann & Kevin Greene in, it was a sham. I'm not necessarily defending Lynn Swann's inclusion, but I think people focus too much on regular season stats at the expense of the postseason when it comes to the HOF issue. In three consecutive SB games (all victories) - vs Dallas twice and then the Rams - Swann had 16 catches for 364 yards and 3 TDs. That's 22.75 ypc and he also deservedly won a SB MVP. That needs to count because it's coming against the very best competition in the biggest games. I say the same thing about Terrell Davis. He had an injury-shortened career, but in 8 postseason games he had 1,140 yards and 12 TDs plus a SB MVP award against the league's best competition in "gotta have it" games. Extrapolated to a 17-game season, that 2,422 rushing yards and 26 TDs. Think about that for a moment! 6 minutes ago, DrDawkinstein said: Really interesting about DBs... He had a huge interception, three passes defensed, and forced a fumble in that game. He also won a DPOY award. 1 Quote

Just not sure he will go in first ballot. 52 postseason receptions for 81 yards and 6 TDs plus a SB ring in 10 games suggests to me that he's first-ballot guy. Quote

Hill obviously is a superior talent to Wayne but he still needs the numbers. With how hard it is to get WRs in and his domestic abuse allegations, I dont see it. At the age of 31, not sure he has enough career left to make it. I think you forget how good Wayne was. I would not personally call Hill a superior talent to Wayne, they are more just different types of WRs. I would probably take Wayne, a more complete WR, over Hill in their primes. And that’s not even a knock on Hill, that’s more a credit to Wayne than a slight to Hill. Quote
BearNorth Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Jordan Malaita for the Eagles is trending towards HOF level, perhaps not 1st ballot, but he is a physical freak and top 10 at his position for the last five years. Quote

How crazy will it be if the only DB from the 2010s to make the HoF is Stephon frickin Gilmore.... Dont get me wrong, great player and all, just funny given the history with the Bills and how inept those teams were. Quote

Alphadawg7 Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Kyle Hamilton should be added to the too early to tell - but I’ll say it now, he will be. While he won’t be first ballot, don’t over look Dion Dawkins. When it comes to OL, their personal brand and profile helps, and being the anchor to maybe the best QB ever, getting notoriety as one of the top LT, media exposure, etc I think will eventually lead to a potential HOF spot.
