After the week one game, there were a few threads that people posted their random thoughts and I liked how collaborative it was.  Sorry, this isn't the start of me posting the old Few thoughts thread, but figured maybe we could get something new going.  So please, post your own thoughts and see what comes of it.  And if anyone likes the idea, feel free to start one each week after the game.

1 - Was anyone surprised to see Strong not get some more reps at DB over White?  While Tre had a couple of decent plays, he really struggled to keep up with Waddle.  That crossing route in the 4th was painful to watch and you could see in Tre's body language that he was just toast.  I love Tre, and I know we get Hairston back soon, but Tre should not be out there against any team with speed.

2 - What happened in the second half to the offensive line?  In the first half, they were pushing the defensive line off the ball 2-3 yards on almost ever rushing play.  In the second half, did they get tired or did the Dolphins make adjustments.  Our rushing was less effective and Josh was getting pressured more.  It felt like a dramatic switch.

3 - Anyone regretting paying Cook now?  The visual and production difference between Cook, Davis, and Johnson is night and day this season.  I'd argue Cook is legitimately a top 5 back in the league now.  His vision, cuts, speed, and even power seems to have taken another step with his contract.

4 - Groot - I saw the other threads on Groot, and while the defensive line didn't get a sack against a terrible offensive line, I feel like Groot hasn't shown up all season after getting paid.  I could at least see Bosa making an effort and getting close.  Even the rookies on the inside showed some flashes.  I'm wondering if Groot is getting in his head too much on all the contain possibilities that it's slowing down his rush.  Josh was sacked more than Tua, let that sink in.

5 - Safety Play - This might have been the first game I didn't complain about Rapp or Bishop, but I don't know if it's because they did their job well or if the Dolphins never tested them.  On the Dolphins side, I have to tip my hat.  Their safeties were the last line of defense on a few plays that could have been taken to the house.

6 - The Prater Miss - Was Prater asked what happened with that miss?  That was such a momentum swing.  There were so many in this game, but that's where I feel like the Dolphins got the most life.  To go from being up 10 to tied at half was interesting (and yes, the Dolphins still could have scored).

7 - Offensive game plan - For anyone at the game, I'm curious to know how often the Dolphins played with at least two high safeties.  For a defense that is decimated at DB, I was really surprised at the lack of deep shots we took.  Yes, I know we were running well in the first half, but once that slowed in the second, why did we not test their secondary more?

8 - Kincaid - Have to show some love here as he finally looked like a 1st round pick.  If he had pulled in that second touchdown, that may have been the game of his career.

9 - Married life has calmed Josh in the best way possible.  I don't know how to explain it really, but Josh always looks so calm and in control, but you can also tell he expects to score on every drive.  There really isn't a single throw he can't make and I find myself just basking in the glow of his ability every game now.  Which randomly makes me hate the Packers for somehow going straight from Favre to Rodgers to Love.  How is that fair?

10 - This season reminds me of the Chiefs that past few years where they didn't win pretty, but they still won and learned a little from each loss.  No one gave the Dolphins a chance in this game, but you never corner a caged animal.  These are all professional athletes and sometimes desire is as important as skill.  That was easily the best effort the Dolphins could give, and while we didn't play our best, we figured it out.  There's a ton of takeaways and lessons the Bills can get here, all while still 0-3.  We have Oliver and Milano coming back, Hairston in two weeks, and then the suspensions are over.  Keep Bosa healthy, keep tweaking and from these lesser opponents, and get ready for when the games really matter.

On the point of # 2 yes the Dolphins did adjust. They basically on early downs went into a 5 man front with 2 LBs in the box and a safety crept down on early downs.

They bottled up Cook inside that’s why you saw the Bills running more toss late in the game. With Cook bottled up and 2nd and 3rd and long they sat in a 2 shell cover 2 look and made Allen take dump downs and they did a good job for the most part getting to the ball carrier quickly to minimize YAC. In addition I don’t think Dawkins and Brown were particularly great at times in pass pro last night

I watched some random post-game content last night and this morning and 3 separate people in 3 separate ways have said "I've watched football my whole life/50 years/35+ years, etc and I have never seen a better QB than Josh Allen".  Just matter of fact, like they have finally just accepted who he is, a unicorn that can do anything he wants at any time he wants to do it.  But now he is realizing when to pick and choose his spots to do it and allow "Clark Kent" to be on the field more than Superman, saving that for when he really needs it.

The change it has caused in his game is remarkable...fully in control...diagnoses things at the line and changes plays and protections where need be...takes what the D is giving him and usually puts us in easy conversion situations(2nd and under 5, 3rd and under 2, etc)...just like a person who was the best violinist in the world who has now also become one of the best conductors in the world...

It's really impressive and he is doing it with what many would call "middling" skill position players outside Cook.

Bills have not lost the TO Battle in 25 games and counting, an NFL record.

No position player has a TO since James Cook in 2023 against the Chiefs in week 15, 22 game and counting, what also must be an NFL record.

When the Bills don't turn the ball over they are almost impossible to beat.

We've got to get this cornerback thing fixed.

On the TD to Waddle, Tre was well into the end zone defending I don't know what.

Any high schooler could have made that pitch and catch.

He is going to be targeted over and over.

I was saying after the game... Groot got paid... and now he is relaxing... absolutely not even really mentioned... very disappointing to me...

Kincaid is having a bit of a revival... I like it... must be a smidgen more reliable catching the ball... not horrible... but just focus on the catch dude.. then run.

I was all about Tre in the first half.... he was ballin... the 2nd half I was not all about Tre... at all.... could be just coming back from injury, could be 1 on 1 with one of the fastest players in the leauge is really tough to do... who knows... I just hope he continues to improve as he heals and that we havent seen him Top out...

Cook, I will admit to being a skeptic, but 3 games in and I am in the holy he!! thank goodness we did that...

#7 I think literally verbatim exactly what you wrote.

Go Bills!

The Bills' defense, which is getting roasted on here this morning, prevented the moonshots to Hill and Waddle, got Tua off his first read, and forced him from the pocket. That is usually what you want to do against them. The fact that he made plays that he usually doesn't make is what made the game close. As you say in point 10, they were a desperate team last night and Tua played very well. Or at least he did until all 6'7'' and 331 pounds of Deone Walker got in his face.

I've never witnessed a team be so good and so frustrating while doing it.

Replace Josh Allen with a Geno Smith or a Sam Darnold and we are suddenly a 7-9 team.   Replace James Cook with a Kenneth Walker type then this team becomes a 3-14 team.   Those two elevate this team so much, that without them we're still a drought era Bills.  There is quite a void of top end talent after you take those two out of the equation.   Can't believe cook was the last player that got a new contract.

“Replace James Cook with a Kenneth Walker type then this team becomes a 3-14 team.”

“Replace Josh Allen with a Geno Smith or a Sam Darnold and we are suddenly a 7-9 team.”

Yes, when you replace your STAR players with average journeymen your offense suffers. Truly groundbreaking stuff there…

If Beane gets crap for his bad picks then he should get credit for the good ones. James Cook and Josh Allen are both top 5 at their respect positions. Without Beane, this franchise would be exactly where Miami is now.

Edit: I also wanted to add… If Darnold ended up in Buffalo I am certain that his development would’ve been much better here. I’m sure he wishes he ended up here 😭

Nobody's talking about one of Josh's best plays. On the last drive after the INT, on second and long, the Fins were playing the DBs deep but brought a lot of pressure. Josh stepped up in the pocket and found Elijah Moore all alone in the gap between the D-line and the DBs and got a 30 yard completion that ended the game. That step up is something that young Josh didn't do.

The point of Bills 2025 look more and more like the Chiefs of the past few years crossed my mind yesterday watching the game. Gone are the days we get out of the gate emptying our bullets killing teams by 3 or 4 TDs, making everyone talking about how good we are. We are just doing enough in the name of winning this game, not to show how great we are and that in large part is Josh Allen's maturity, and maybe the coaching staff.

Are we really that good, or not that good? Well, regular season, especially early season is NOT the place to find out. What matters is health, improving and hopefully we peak at the right time.

Tua's average air yards/completion into mid 3rd quarter was -0.5 yards! Literally his average pass completion was behind the LOS.  That's absurd...dude completed 22 passes for 146 yards and the Fins had 276 yards total.  That's not a bad showing by the D at all, and for the most part outside a couple of runs, plugged the run lanes very well. Fins were in 3rd and long most of the night and the biggest issue was the Bills not being able to take advantage of those enough and get them off the field.

That may not be fair. The Athletic writer mentioned that he's playing with a bone bruise on his knee. I've had one myself for months, and I haven't been able to do anything but walk for short distances. No hiking, no tennis, no running, no nothing. If his injury is similar, he's playing through some serious pain.

Yeah...I was so irritated how often they had Tua running around and couldn't make the play...none more so than Tre coming in as a free runner out of control and allowing him to spin away and complete a pass to Hill for a 1st down on 3rd and 12.

Literally unaware of this... thanks for putting it out there... in some strange way this makes me feel better because if indeed truly impacting him that could be a legit reason for his lack of impact.

Are we really that good, or not that good? Well, regular season, especially early season is NOT the place to find out. What matters is health, improving and hopefully we peak at the right time.

Yeah but we came pretty close to throwing the game away last night.  We come out hard first couple drives then get cute for the next 30 minutes of gametime.  That's not going to work against better teams, we dont get to play the Jets and Dolphins every week
