T.E. Posted September 19 Posted September 19 People seem to be in denial about how close they were to losing that game. And they also seem to not particularly care that we haven't made any adjustments to the defense in years despite consistently having the same issues, or that that the coaching staff's offensive gameplan is centered around taking the ball out of our best player's hands. Hey, but you're supposed to enjoy the ride and just pretend it's bad luck when they lose in the playoffs yet again after the same fatal flaws creep up. 4 1 2 2 6 Quote

This seemingly has been a big part of their ( unsuccessful come the playoffs) strategy for years now i thought you would want your best player on the field as much as possible …instead of maximising his time sitting on the sideline waiting for the opposition to make a mistake .. 8 minutes ago, mjt328 said: Lots of fans like to blame Brandon Beane for the roster. But when you are constantly drafting/signing different players every year, and the results are exactly the same over and over... that points more towards the coaching staff. We know he has made some errors …but I assume he is trying to acquire players to match the skill sets and physical requirements his coaches want to run their schemes… Edited September 19 by Aussie Joe Quote

When was the last time that we could rely upon Milano being a starter? He should’ve been replaced this year and left as a back up. Quote

So far, his impact has been minimal compared to a Joey Bosa, agreed? So far, when Bosa hits FA next year, we have a massive need at EDGE rusher despite paying Greg Rousseau, agreed? it’s pretty telling that the defense of Rousseau’s performance the first 3 games is “it’s a long season” lol. Because any rational person isn’t going to scream from the rooftops after 3 games… it’s really not that difficult, man. Are you willing to come on here and say Daniel Jones is the best QB in the league if he comes out and posts a similar performance to his first two weeks this season? I understand it’s in your nature, and the nature of most human beings to be overwhelming negative and jump conclusions. But holy *****, is it not exhausting for you? Sweats Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Ok, i'm going to weigh in on this...... * The Fins had their backs against the wall * They are our division rival * The Fins ALWAYS play us hard * We were down 2 starters on D * Hill was going to get his yards * Tua is not good, but he's not that bad either * The Fins wanted to make a statement * We were a lot of vanilla on D AND O tonight * The Fins O were playing for their lives * It's like Bills fans don't believe that other teams gameplan * Etc. I mean, i could go on and on and on and on and on and........but i won't cause i've lost interest. 3 2 3 Quote

The same issues and concerns are still gaping holes on a defense that “Big Baller” Beane and his "defensive mastermind” head coach have spent many offseasons addressing. This team has a “Trent Edwards is our QB” philosophy and I don’t know how much longer fans are going to put up with it. Beating the 0-2 Dolphins who were on the verge of mailing in the rest of the season should not be the standard of excellence around here. It needs to be “Super Bowl appearance or GTFO”. Stop holding back and tell us how you really feel 2 Quote

The Fins secondary was beat up before this game and lost two players during the game and it still seemed as if we couldn’t throw more than 5 yards up field. It felt like we had more passes behind the LOS than past it. 4 1 1 Quote
Luka Posted September 19 Posted September 19 We've entered the era of being the other team's Super Bowl for the season. Bask in it. It won't last forever, as I think most of us are aware. 2 2 Quote

Daniel Jones has had a great first 3 games. We will see if it continues. Based on his body of work, I don’t have a super high opinion of him, so I doubt it. Greg Rousseau has basically been invisible for the first 3 games. We will see if it continues. Based on his body of work, I don’t have a super high opinion of him either, but I thought he was better than his play this year would suggest. And now that he is presumably one of our best defensive players (and paid accordingly), I think the expectations surrounding his play during our SB window have risen as well. Whats wrong with those takes? Too scorching hot? 1 Quote

Bruffalo Posted September 19 Posted September 19 They played the way they did intentionally. They should have executed better on third down, and the D-Line needs to get home, but the soft zone is a coaching choice. They didn't believe the Dolphins could win with 10-15 play drives, and they proved it. They showed nothing on offense because they didn't need to. The game was about 4 plays on offense from being a blowout, without the missed field goal everyone is talking about this game differently. 1 Quote
BeastMaster Posted September 19 Posted September 19 I'm fine with the mistake free, conservative offense that doesn't have alot of flash to it. My real issue...and I'm not really too upset with it now, but once we get to later in the season and the playoffs we can't have the same McDermott defense we've had ever since he's been coach here. They need to be more aggressive and they have to be able to stop the run without selling out to do it. I expect that McDermotts defense will fail when it matters most, and that would be an unacceptable result to me...especially given the investment into the defense. 2 Quote

If the issues yesterday, against a bad team, were not something which continually reared it's head in the play offs, resulting in an earlier than desired exit, then it could be dismissed as a one off or unusual evening. But it's the same thing week in, week out. Too soft, too weak and - don't get me wrong, as they're very important - but too reliant on turnovers rather than being able to get 3 and outs. Especially the management of 3rd and long. 1 2 Quote

I didn’t notice the thread title was Rousseau 5 years, thanks for correcting me. 1 minute ago, UKBillFan said: And I think this is my concern. Harriston needs to get healthy and up to speed by the playoffs. 3 1 Quote

Nothing like another $80M locked in a position that we basically need to address again going into next year. Big baller! He's currently on his Ed Oliver arc. Quote
