If this kid had some political saavy, he may have done that. The more likely scenario is he registered to vote as a high school senior at 18, not knowing what the hell he was doing, and three years later had a different ideology. How many 18-21 year olds do you know who are on their game politically and arent swayed by public opionion and the need to fit in? I don't think we were dealing a brain surgeon in this instance.
