All the starters played 67% vs the ravens iirc. Until Hoecht is available, I think the starters will continue around 67%- at that point, I think the DE’s may rotate more Agreed, and beat me to it. Same thing happened in Carolina once McD got 4 starters he liked. The rotation dropped to a minimum. With Bosa/Jones/Oliver/Rousseau as your starting 4, they should only be rotating out for wind breaks when needed. And even then, Ed waved Sanders back to the sidelines against Baltimore. 1 1 Quote

I doubt Tua, unless one of the boys gives him another concussion from sack which is likely. Not that I want that to happen as I never wish injuries on a player. The HC and GM are dead men walking as it’s just a matter of what week. Their bye isn’t til week 12. Quote

Bosa has a great initial burst but appears to lose a lot of speed in secondary pursuits. He seems to lose all his juice and gets washed out of the rest of the play. He may never have had that second gear, but it appeared noticeable last night, especially compared to other DEs. This is not a criticism of you, Max... your comment reminded me that it's a popular parlor game here to criticize D-linemen who aren't going full throttle in pursuit. The most recent Bills target of this criticism was Von Miller but even HOFer Bruce Smith was accused of dialing down on his pursuit on extended plays. Bosa isn't either ancient or huge but he is 30 years old and 280 pounds. Most of the time the player knows better than the fan, how to apportion the energy that's in his tank. That's really what McDermott's defense depends on: 11 guys who know their job, and do it. You're right. There was a handful of people on this site who were repeating the message before the opener that the Ravens matchup came at a bad time... a power offense with a set identity against a smallish defense with lots of new parts that didn't play many snaps together in the preseason. It's really a beautiful thing that we won week one. 1 1 1 Quote

You still haven't explained why this isn't a fair observation other than to reach into Bosa’s reasoning. 1 1 Quote

I don't know the reason... it could be conditioning or it could be his sense of self-preservation. Your guess is as good as mine. Quote

machine gun kelly Posted September 18 Posted September 18 Bosa has been a pleasant surprise in that he seems to love placing his hand in the dirt. I’m just hopeful he can make it successfully through the bye. Once Hoecht comes back, they can share the load. I’m a manner of speaking, having Ogunjobi out allows the rookies needed experience. Our opponents are pretty weak through the bye. Maybe Atlanta could be a trap game, but we should walk through Miami, NO, NE, and even the Panthers the week after the bye. Unfortunately, the schedule gets much tougher starting with the Chiefs. So on the topic, Bosa has enough games where he can be. Load managed with Landon Jackson. TJ Sanders, and Deon Walker can get a lot of playing time these next weeks. Hopefully when we get to the tougher part of the schedule, they are humming as a unit. I do like how we are rushing a lot more, and using 12 and 13 personnel, as the heavier sets match well with several athletic, but smaller defenses. 1 Quote

He’s had many warnings of likely lifelong harm from concussions. Too many times to not accept what he’s doing to himself. This is on him. 1 Quote

But for me, as a DE, the initial burst to get around your lineman is the biggest thing. Whether they get to the QB or not, it still puts pressure on them (QB) potentially causing mistakes and turnovers. Quote
