Holy batshit crazy balls

This is hardly true.

Sure the revenue was there but it is subjective.

Quantity doesn't equal quality. As a tour, sure it was huge and popular. It was a masterful performance. She can put on a helluva show and I remember back almost 10-12 years ago when I wouldn't back down to @Buftex about her talent and career to exceed Beyonce saying she has more talent (she does, her art is far more popular). But, by individual accounts it's all subjective. Her tour was ginormous but doesn't mean it was the best.

You admit it the fact above that revenue, masterful performance, etc. yet it’s a crazy take saying it was the best in our lifetime? Well yeah of course saying that is subjective and opinion. I mean love her, hate her or not care about her….she is #1. She is the most popular artist in our lifetime. Revenue and Demand back that up. She breaks every single record. She makes other artists in her category seem small, she’s surpassed the fan obsession of a Michael Jackson, Prince etc. The obsession is wild, she yawns and it breaks the internet lol.  The tour was nothing we have ever seen or

was done…ever. Across the world you had professional athletes praising how the hell she did it. She’s a genius in creativity and song writing and again unlike so many other artists is such a solid role model in the public eye for young girls and women to look up to

i'm guessing you're like 12. lol

the inflated ticket prices and all of that isn't impressive to me.

the rolling stones in the early 2000's and again in the 10's had an incredible tour.

in my mid 40's i can remember a few giant tours like Bruce Springsteen, several Rolling Stones tours, Elton John, U2 Pink Floyd, MJ...

MJ alone did like $150mm in 89 alone. That's when ticket prices were still like $35 - not $350 for nosebleed Swift tickets.

Comparing todays venues with ticketmaster and over inflated prices on such things to yesteryear is like comparing a Range Rover to a Model T.

She cuts the crust off the bread, makes me smiley face pancakes, cook me whatever I wish.My job is to get out the tv trays and find some show to eat by, presently PAWN STARS. She cleans up dinner while I take the arduous task of putting away the tv trays. She cuts the lawn, stains the deck, snow blows the driveway, pays the bills, does all the grocery shopping, brings me my meds2x daily.

I think that paints the picture……it’s the price she had to pay to go to Italy next month. That, and learn Italian, which she did.

Enjoy! That could be the trip of a lifetime. I’m jealous. Just know that when youn return you will look at cantaloupe in the States and be very disappointed. It’s like a different food there, it’s so sweet it just melts. Everything is so simple, and so good.

Yeah I can name incredible tours I been through the years, fact is they did not come close comparing from popularity and demand and her tour. Again there is subjective vs facts. Your second point is incorrect. Keep in mind if you won the “lottery” and were able to purchase face value tickets, you could get in for around for $50. The demand had people selling those same tickets for a resale of $2,500 which is just hammering away at my point

there are a few musicians when you hear their first name you KNOW who they mean without much question or thought

Taylor

Beyonce

Gaga

Prince

Flea

just to name  a few. what they all have in common is musical brilliance. The proof is in the UBER popularity.it may not be my taste

of course taste is subjective. I am not a fan of  Taylor OR  Beyonce for that matter. That really matters squat. They don't need my fandom

the way people write negatively about Taylor is no skin off her nose either.  The thought that she is disparaged so much to me is laughable. You don't "Know" her.

distaste for her music is one thing. the rest is  PIFFLE.

haters gonna hate Hate HATE she was 100% CORRECT

Another one you can go by his first or last name is Jerry or Garcia, and you know who they are talking about. Do you think any of the ones you listed will have the lasting power of the Grateful Dead. Most of the band members are gone now as only Bob, Mickey and Bill are left. Yet 60 years after the Dead were formed, they still sellout arenas and stadiums as Dead and Company. Very few bands or solo artists music will still be popular 60 years after they started. There are a lot of Dead cover bands out there as well. Like them or hate them the Dead have made their mark in the music industry that very few bands can match.

Are you saying that the Grateful Dead had a cult following?  😲  According to an expert post upthread, fan cults are a recent phenomenon, apparently starting with Taylor Swift.

A generation is defined as what 10 years?? 60 years and six generations of fans. Along with the Dead you have the Rolling Stones and the surviving members of The Who still performing as example of bands who have been popular for just as long. I don't think Taylor Swift's music or popularity will have that kind of lasting power.

Elton

Bruno

Garth

Ringo

ELVIS

I think so. On some levels at least. it's an interesting conversation.

how quickly we forget...

Mozart

Chopan

Pavarotti

Or groups like

KISS

Nirvana

Zepelin

Doors

Queen

True icons are more than a 20 year run. Madonna is the only female I can think of that has spanned more than 3 decades with her prevalence.

Will Taylor still have the popularity she does in 20 years like the Dead? The Beatles? Elvis?

I did not say that it is a recent phenomenom  but the cultish following that is this absurd is more recent and prevalent than other points in history.

This is what I was getting at in my first point.  In 2040 we are not going to be hearing her most recent album being cited as something like the Zeppelin albums, etc.

I doubt we are still singing anything but her bubblegum early pop stuff pre 1989 album after the year 2030. Shake It Off, Bad Blood, We Are Never Ever, Ever Getting Back Together, Love Story, and maybe...maybe Our Song will be the only lasting ones we sing. A few like Mean and Never Grow up will last longer than Cruel Summer, Who's Afraid of Little Me, You Need To Calm down...

Anything off of Lover, Reputation, Folklore post her 1989 album... will be gone. Those before 1989 like Red, Speak Now had the best stuff people will remember.

i don't live under a rock. i enjoy her early music. i keep up to date on the world. i find it interesting your insult insinuates that ignorance on this topic is preferred vs. knowledge when criticizing.

sorry, i don't pride myself in ignorance. rather, i would choose to speak on what i know to make my opinions vs what i can only guess or make up. kind of interesting, don't you think? i know what i am talking about and can say i enjoy her music. i can say i do not know her and she does not have an impact on my life - this can also be true.

logic is difficult for some. intelligence is uninteresting to others.

Back in the 1960s, my parents said the Beatles would never last, too.   Taylor has already been around for almost 20 years, releasing her first hit, "Tim McGraw" in 2006, so I wouldn't bet against her

She's bigger in her own demographics than anybody of her lifetime

She is not bigger than Michael Jackson on a worldwide demographic

Tribes in the Amazon rainforest knew who Michael Jackson was they have no clue who Taylor Swift is

Michael Jackson was known everywhere... And has toured in double if not triple the amount of countries she has

Is she a master at sales and a popstar? Absolutely... She does not have the worldwide scope of Michael Jackson

Ya know what's funny to me? Stevie Nicks has twice the talent and is exactly who Taylor is trying to be with her character.

Nick's is hands down a queen.
