Dude, just admit you were wrong and move on… Look how many were wrong about JA and they're still running around trying to justify their argument, or lack thereof. Give me a high ceiling every time. A man that big that can throw O-Lineman around and move the way he does… some of those plays are Richard Seymour-esque. He might even be bigger than Seymour was. The knock we've all seen is failure to keep his pads low. What keeps running through my mind is that back injury. Obv its healed, but wonder if theres a mental barrier thet guys returning off injury have. Acl guys tend to not want to do the explosive cuts they did pre-injury, without even realizing it from what I've heard... like they're continuing to protect it. Some extra reps with Larry O out early season could be exactly what the doctor ordered for his mental recovery. Just my 2cents Quote
NickelCity Posted August 25 Posted August 25 Excited for Walker this year but also verrrrry excited to see him in year two with a full off-season of NFL conditioning. 1 Quote

Sanders is more consistent. I would expect Sanders to play double the snaps as Walker. In those 10-15 snaps I think Walker can be a big disruptor on the line. I think fatigue will make the negative plays for Walker more pronounced. This is a pretty accurate statement. Walker has bigger splash plays paired with more costly poor plays. Sanders is more consistent. The question on Walker is, can he be coached up to play more consistently while retaining the capacity to make bigger plays during the course of the game? I think you let him be Godzilla for 10-15 plays a game. Good or bad create havoc inside. If he gets beat up by a double team at least he held up the other lineman from making the second level. Im not sure he needs to do more than that. Be a real ass kicker. Keep him fresh to unleash on interior olines. I think Sanders has a shot to be very good and sooner than later replace Daquan Jones. Immediately on passing downs with Sanders and Oliver with Rousseau and Bosa is the best 4 Buffalo has had in a long time. Quote
WhitewalkerInPhilly Posted August 25 Posted August 25 Look if we are going to get nitpicky, how is Walker looking at taking over a spot compared to every other rookie? Hairston was duking it out with Tre before he got hurt. Sanders is the closest and is still well behind Oliver for the spot. He's spent a lot of time on the turf Landon Jackson had some tough early preseason moments. Everyone else is depth right now. This isn't to be Debbie Downer on our rookies. I think you are going to see upgrades on a roster that was already very good by the end of the year. But for all the very real flaws I think Walker is the closest to breaking out Quote
Rubes Posted August 25 Posted August 25 This thread is just confusing to me. Sure, Joe M was definitely very down on Walker during the draft, but in the video posted in the OP, he is heaping praise on him and sounds super excited about what he is able to do. He also stated how he was starting to prove him wrong. Isn't that what you all would like to hear? Or do you just like piling on someone based on the first few seconds of the video? 2 2 Quote

Yeah, people didn't watch the video and started making assumptions. Except they did it with a guy Joe Marino) who watches a crap ton of tape on players all over the league and is one of the most consistently objective voices out there. This is the Bills Squad episode from the draft where they talk about Walker and Jerry O breaks down why he thinks it was likely an awesome pick and insane value...sounds like everything Jerry said is coming true and this is where Marino's mind started opening up that he was hopefully loud wrong on that pick and the grade he had put on Walker (without the medicals and not being a doctor, sounds like Jerry O has significant background in that stuff not just as a player, but through medical sales post career and through coaching/having kids that play): They start talking about Walker at 21:45 in the video and it really is an extremely excellent listen, highly recommend to everyone. 1 Quote
