UConn James Posted July 15 Posted July 15 (edited) Bowen Byram is re-upped for 2 years, $12.5M total, avoiding arbitration. Can’t imagine he’s happy to be stuck in Buffalo but he’ll likely be trade bait this season or next off-season, then gets to be UFA in ‘27. Edited July 15 by UConn James 3 Quote

He wanted to get paid and a chance to play top pair minutes and PP1. He will play alongside Dahlin and get a ton of minutes. Its only a 2 year deal so if he performs he will get a big contract soon enough. I think this worked out well for all parties involved. 2 Quote

Wow I just noticed that, 10 out of their first 14 are at home. Literally a quarter of all home games this season are in the first month. That could work two ways... 2 Quote
f0neguy Posted July 17 Posted July 17 Looking at DejaVu all over again. Start out okay, 10-12 game losing streak, barely miss playoffs…. Lather, rinse, repeat. At this point, until I see better (playoffs at a minimum) I expect nothing. I really wish I could get fired up for the upcoming season but they’ve beaten me down. I’ll watch some here and there, I’ll follow the standings, and hope for the best. Us old folks remember playoff hockey in the Aud and how great that was. I want that again 🥳 1 1 Quote
AlCowlingsTaxiService Posted July 17 Posted July 17 I wish I cared. I used to. A lot. They absolutely beat it out of me. Up to them to win this fan back. 1 3 Quote

He said he had “a lot of mental battles” during his two years with the Sabres and he was disappointed his game had “kind of been at a standstill.” “I feel like I kind of lost myself. And the change of scenery — I got that call that I’m going to be a Pittsburgh Penguin, and I was really excited for the change,” he said. “I want to get back to my old self and how I played, the impact that I had on the game.” Not exactly shocking but still difficult to hear. It can't just be the losing that has multiple players talking about losing their love of the game in Buffalo. Can it? Quote

It really makes you think about the number of players it seems to have happened with. The number of guys that have career resurgences once they get to another team is rather amazing. I was surprised they did all that for an arena naming rights deal. Quote
