I think it’s not a stretch to say that the Buffalo region isn’t financially prepared to support the Sabres if they are terrible. Habs are clearly a much better franchise but even at 3 straight bottom of the conference finishes, they led the league in attendance in 23-24. That's fair. I do think the region can support the Sabres through 5-ish terrible years. But they're not equipped to support them through the worst draught in NHL history. Which is about 3x of what I think the region is capable of. That said, I'm not sure how many regions would support this run. It's never happened before. If the Sabres were the 8th best team in the conference for 14 years they'd still be top 10 in attendance instead of bottom 5. Quote

I say it a lot, but I don't believe there is a worse product in pro-sports than a perpetually bad NHL team. Especially one that purposely avoids physical-style players. The games are a snoozefest. The Sabres play soooo many meaningless games. Add in the terrible arena and awful game presentation, it is a terrible product for, what $40 a seat? 1 Quote

You at least knew the team would try hard for 60 minutes, even though they stunk. People don’t want to see a spoiled 22 year old floating around out there while the team is missing the playoffs again. Quote

I tend to believe when several people tell the same exact story AND there is physical proof (they leaked the slide deck from that meeting) AND what they say is going to happen actually starts happening (layoffs started happening right after that). To be honest I think one would have to purposefully ignore common sense to not believe it. Edited 3 hours ago by Einstein Quote

The Owners had a big meeting and put a PowerPoint presentation together that told their employees ‘you need to work harder so I can vacation in Aspen’……sure, that sounds right! Quote

They legit had the meeting, told people they weren't getting raises, and put up a slide about maintaining their family lifestyle. I am just a guy on the internet who was dating somebody in the building at that time. (Fun fact, Josh Allen moved to Corona because the Labatt rep no called/no showed to their meeting). I get it, you don't have to believe me. But it's also strange that you have a copy of the slide and an article about multiple sources also corroborating something similar and you still go "meh, I don't think this stranger I don't know would do that" Quote

gordong Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Best thing that could happen to the sabres as he shows zero interest is making that team better. and not firing the GM that is on WAY over his head. 1 Quote
DapperCam Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago FYI, the deal the Sabres just made saves Pegula about $4m bucks. He’s basically run that team on an austerity budget since COVID. 1 Quote

Your assuming the Sabres aren't making any more moves than the Peterka trade. Actually Terry spent like a drunk sailor when he first bought the team. Edited 1 hour ago by PromoTheRobot Quote

Bandits threads generally devolve into laughing that they are happy not to have him him around because he struggles with the Sabres. The comments are littered with stuff like "Keep the bad juju away, we are doing fine without him". I am not sure what proof you are looking for? Like a picture of him holding the days paper at his house in Florida, with that days 10pm news on in the background? 1 Quote

He's waiting for more evidence. 1 Quote

It is surprising to me how many people feel the need to defend billionaire owners. 1 Quote
