( paywall can’t read) The story makes it sound as though Owens should have been a 1st round pick…lol. But seriously, it just talks about his leadership at Yale and then for a short time at UNH. The kid’s obviously smart, and his former coaches think he “will make any team better.” 4 Quote
dock581 Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Thanks.. let’s hope he turns out to be a diamond in the rough Quote

Ransom was more of an in the box defender, which forced downs to play deep middle. When Ransom went down, they played Hancock deep middle and moved Downs closer to the LOS where he could make more plays. He acquitted himself nicely. They kept doing it after Ransom came back and he played a lot of safety snaps in the playoffs. That said...he is more of a pass defender, IMO. More Micah, less Poyer or even Johnson. Perfect! Hopefully Bishop plays the poyer role and Hancock the Hyde. Rapp can come in when we need to put someone on IR and Hamlin can give pep talks to the PR department Edited 18 hours ago by NeverOutNick Quote

Either way honestly that dude don’t care in his head it’s “head down, knock ball out casualties beware” lol Quote

But seriously, it just talks about his leadership at Yale and then for a short time at UNH. The kid’s obviously smart, and his former coaches think he “will make any team better.” His Defensive Coordinator at New Hampshire said “He broke decades-long strength records in three months at New Hampshire” and “He’s the type of person you want to build your team around." He said furthermore, “I don’t know what you do with him. I don’t know where you put him. (But) there’s zero chance he doesn’t make the team better. He’s going to adapt to whatever you ask him to do. He’s going to work exceptionally hard at it, and he’s going to do so to the best of his ability, and his ability is pretty special.” Apparently Owens played both cornerback and safety and was a team captain at Yale (before transferring to UNH). Yale head coach Tony Reno told the Yale athletics website. “Wande is an exceptional player and an outstanding leader. The Buffalo Bills are getting a great one.” Pretty much all the scouting services had him ranked as an undrafted free agent. One had him ranked as the 21st undrafted safety. Quote

That's why I'm hoping they play him at S and don't bother with NCB because that's too much to put on a rookie's plate, especially if they want him winning a job sooner rather than later. And right now the need is greater at S than NCB. Quote
