The “crucifixion” of Donald Trump

Recommended Posts

Nothing compares to the proclamation "He Has Risen" like Trump comparing himself and the legitimate prosecution of his crimes to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. This is a distasteful sacrilege.

Funny how the cult is whining about Biden signing a proclamation about respecting others and not a word about Trump making this “holy” day about himself.

Blasphemy

Just what the world needs: a soul cleanse with a grifter Bible, where the profits could well be going to pay legal costs in trials about breaking commandments — bearing false witness to try to steal democracy, coveting a porn star, then paying the star hush money to keep quiet about the sex.

What could be more Elmer Gantry than that? As Sinclair Lewis wrote about his corrupt, power-hungry, narcissistic, womanizing preacher, “He had, in fact, got everything from the church and Sunday school, except, perhaps, any longing whatever for decency and kindness and reason.”

Religious snake-oil salesmen have a storied history in American literature and films, from Flannery O’Connor’s “Wise Blood” to Peter Bogdanovich’s beloved movie “Paper Moon,” about a conniving Bible salesman and his small helper. But it’s shocking when the charlatan might be in the Oval.

In her 2016 book, “The Confidence Game,” Maria Konnikova explained that we’re easy prey for faux Nigerian princes because of all the chaos in our world. “The whirlwind advance of technology heralds a new golden age of the grift,” she wrote. “Cons thrive in times of transition and fast change.”

If there is one thing Trump knows how to do, it’s exploit chaos he creates.

There has to be a yearning in the populace that the con man can channel; and, at a time when religion and patriotism are waning, people are searching for more. Unfortunately, these days that search often takes the form of conspiracy theories.

I have a hard time thinking of a political leader whose personal actions are in as much opposition to Christ’s teachings as he. Maybe some of the dictators he admires, beyond that, he is in an exclusive club.

Not surprised.

Also, not surprised at the crickets from his acolytes around here.  They'll excuse any and everything from this pos.

Yeah, not a good look for trump. His love for himself was and will continue to be his downfall.

Trump is a sac-religious narcissist and I cringe whenever I see his pastors like Jeffries come on Fox promoting him as a leader for evangelicals.

That being said.. stop asking Christians why they will vote for him over a man who makes a mockery of his faith by incessantly referencing said faith to absolve him of his progressive led assault on Christian values and what evangelicals hold sacred.

I take it differently. I think the point is that everyone else misses the point. That is what the crowd represents.

Loving people in the abstract is easy. It is easy to love those with whom you have sympathy. It is hard to love those who are not aligned with you. Rarely can anyone di that well, The conservative Christians don't and the liberal doo-gooders don't. Each hate those who oppose their world view. The message was radical 4000 years ago. It was radical 2000 years ago, it is radical now.

In the spirit of Easter, the Gospel message is that God loved those who opposed Him. All of them. Even the ones who hung His son on a cross. Good thing for us. He tell us to do have the same kind of love for those whom we hate. But we fail. Good thing for us that this does not disqualify us for heaven. Otherwise Jesus dying on the cross would have been meaningless.

So, next time you jump on a Christian for being a hypocrite, just remember, that God accepts them despite that failing.
