Israel and the Slaughter in Gaza

yes. things like 9/11, weather underground bombings were more severe forms of terrorism.

the definition of terrorism is using fear, violence or the threat of violence for political gain or change. it fit.

And a bit of irony as the same groups and pople that did the BLM riots. are these folks. they just are wearing the Palestinian scarf.

It's the same paid group of professional protesters employed by the party that gets flown in and bused to the site dressed in the proper attire for the occasion.  I expect they'll try to screw up New Years Eve events as their next act.

Same ones who are no doubt already planning their societal obstruction, and worse, when Trump wins his 1st caucus.

South Africa has no love for Israel, that goes back to Apartheid days

https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/01/02/world/israel-supreme-court-gaza-news

Israel said it would appear before the International Court of Justice in The Hague to defend itself against accusations of genocide filed by South Africa. Eylon Levy, a government spokesman, accused South Africa of aligning itself with Hamas and of being complicit in its crimes. South Africa, which has asked the U.N. court to halt the fighting in Gaza, has been among the most vocal critics of Israel since the war began.

****

The Israeli military confirmed that it had begun withdrawing some soldiers from Gaza, part of a planned pullout of roughly five brigades from the enclave. It did not give additional details.

Biden and his buddies can’t figure out what to do.  Complete and absolute failure.  If they knew what they were doing and not focusing on 9th month abortions and Larry’s “access to reproductive rights” this war would never have happened.  What a mess.

A major problem is Biden is such a weak leader that its crystal clear that Israel has more influence over US policy than the US has over Israel.  The rest of the world sees it, our friends, our enemies, and those that remain neutral over the conflict.  Some conclude US forces in the region are an extension of the Israeli military.  And while its clear we should be backing Israel, our government needs to demonstrate some degree of independence and objectivity.  The old Captain is asleep at the wheel once again.

I don't think it's a problem that the US' has less influence over Israeli policy.

I think having less US influence, which is largely driven by the US political environment, is actually more likely to end this.

Israel is not the US' family pet.

They are a sovereign nation surrounded by enemies that want them destroyed.

They should do what they need to do, much the same as any country would, removed from wacky American election year politics.

Well, one way or another, there will be an investigation on the "security failure." Is not even having any plan at all a "failure"? Or just part of the plan?

Lawyers representing survivors from the Tribe of Nova trance music festival, one of the first targets for Hamas militants during the Oct. 7 attack, submitted a lawsuit Monday against Israel’s security agencies, accusing them of “negligence and omissions.”

The lawsuit, submitted to the Tel Aviv district court, seeks about $55 million in compensation from the Israel Defense Forces, domestic security agency Shin Bet and the Israeli police, and it was signed by 42 plaintiffs, consisting of survivors of the festival who were mentally or physically injured in the attack or relatives of victims who were killed.

According to attorneys Anat Ginzburg and Gilad Ginzburg, it is the largest tort lawsuit ever filed in Israel against the state. The lawsuit, which remains confidential, was accompanied by opinions from psychiatrists on the damage caused to the plaintiffs by the attack.

“All the defendants had to do was to make a phone call to the responsible parties on their behalf for them to disperse the party given the warnings received on the night between 6/10/23 - 7/10/23,” the lawsuit stated.

According to the lawsuit, the request for approval of the party at a parking lot near the Gaza border was submitted about three months before the event. Senior officers in the Gaza Division expressed security concerns about holding a mass party near the border, but despite this, the event was approved, the lawsuit added.

Senseless.

We should sue the victims of a terrorist attack because they should have known better?

Can't wait for the victims and Hawaiian inhabitants to sue the US over Dec 7 1941.

That's for the courts to decide. They did believe they were protected, when they were not. Someone needs to be held accountable.

Does seem strange though, a group dedicated to killing every last Jew was just not even taken as a serious threat. Very strange.

That group has existed for years, as have others with similar goals.

You have posted a bunch on this, and never seem to have any knowledge of how Israel has defended itself.

You do nothing but literally post Monday morning thoughts, void of what they do.

No acknowledgement of what is involved.

Ignorant and pathetic.

On this, Israel agrees with you.

The IDF has entered my village in the West Bank. It’s a very peaceful village. Most ppl there are well off. I’m worried. No reason for them to be there.

If there's nothing to set off the IDF, they should be fine.
