TSW Mock Draft 3.0

Virgil

Recommended Posts

With the 24th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys take:  Nakobe Dean, LB Georgia

After sprinting to the podium, we are ecstatic to land the leader of the dominant Georgia defense here to come into our ascending defense.  We gave strong consideration to Linderbaum here, but only if Dean was off the board.  I mean we are the Dallas Cowboys and we don't do boring and landed what we believe to be the best LB in this draft.  We are salivating about the thought of Dean and Parsons paired up on the field and wreaking havoc for years to come.  Having Dean out there with Parsons will allow us to line Parsons up in multiple spots as well to keep the opponents frustrated and guessing.  We see him as the perfect addition to our team and defense.

Now on the clock is @MrEpsYtownand the New Orleans Saints with the 25th pick after making a trade earlier with the Buffalo Bills.

With the 25th pick in the 2022 draft the New Orleans Saints select Devonte Wyatt, DT, Georgia.

NOLA needs and infusion of youth and upside in the interior of their defensive line and Wyatt adds a dynamic 3 tech for them to work with. While not necessarily a huge need, this makes them better and I did not want to reach for a LT. This is BPA. I do not think the Saints traded up to try and get a QB. I think they just want premier players and are planning to be competitive with Winston under center. All in all we added Olave, Wyatt, and Jordan Poyer so I like our rebuilt defense. Anybody have a left tackle anywhere?

@frostbitmic and the Titans are now on the clock.

Im stunned that there are people not on board with the value of getting Hamilton at 19, and without giving up any extra picks.

Truthfully, zero percent chance Saints make this trade in real life.  They need a Safety, they are not going to trade us Hamilton for Poyer without getting extra picks because they have cap issues.  So why pay a 31 year old Safety money they cant afford vs taking what is regarded as a top 3 talent in this draft overall that they can have cheap for the next 4 or 5 years?   Saints would sprint to the podium if Hamilton is there at 19.

That being said, the trade laid out here would be a massive home run for the Bills.  Get the best safety in the draft without having to give up extra picks and have him here under a cheap deal for 4 to 5 years would be too good for Beane to pass up.  And I love Poyer and want him to stay, but this is a no brainer slam dunk if we could trade Poyer and 25 to get to take Hamilton.

It's down the road value, we went from having a very good Safety getting towards the end of his peak to having a rookie that might be great on a cheap deal for years. So, in the immediate we're taking a gamble on a rookie Safety who at best is better than already pretty good player and that's our #1 pick.

And we’ve also added a potentially elite playmaker at a position that this defense depends on, while shedding cap space and ridding of us of any potential headaches caused by a crazy *****

there’s no doubt, there’s a chance that Poyer has a bigger positive impact than Hamilton would in 2022.  But the elite upside is too much to pass up imo.  He’s a perfect space eater in our zone.

Well with a first round pick, we are taking a gamble on a rookie starter in most cases.  So, taking a guy who is graded in the top 3 overall in this draft at 19 is a pretty good way to start.

With the 27th pick in the 2022 NFL draft the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Zion Johnson, guard, Boston College.

Bucs had two main priorities heading into this draft – DL and IOL. We were strongly considering DT/DE Logan Hall, but at the end of the day, the need to protect a 67-year-old QB and surprising availability of top-rated guard prevailed. We lost both starting guards this offseason – Alex Cappa followed the money to Cincy and Ali Marpet retired while in his prime and, to the big surprise for a couple of his ex-teammates, he doesn’t plan to unretire. We filled one hole by fleecing Bill Belichick, and Zion looks like best candidate to fill the other.

Johnson is durable, smart, great teammate and excels in both pass pro and run blocking.

Don’t tell anybody but the plan now is to trade up to early 40s for Hall.

The Green Bay Packers and @NewEra are on the clock.

With the 28th pick, the Green Bay Packers select Tyler Smith, OT/OG Tulsa.

We would’ve loved to trade down, but that takes too much time, so we decided to spare everyone.  Our RT Jenkins is going to miss a bunch of the season and is a better OG than tackle imo.  He’s also a FA following next season.  Smith is a mauler with attitude and versatility.  We feel he can be an excellent tackle or guard.

We thought long an hard on David Ojabo, but would rather take the immediate impact and that Smith can provide.

McBride was a consideration as our TEs are meh, but thought it’s too much of a reach.  The only player we didn’t feel was a reach at this point was possibly Dax Hill, but we’re deep in the secondary plan on resigning Jaire long term.  1st rd corner last year with stokes.  Savage and Amos both very solid safeties.

  • Virgil changed the title to TSW Mock Draft 3.0 - The Chiefs (H2o) are on the clock

With the 29th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft......the Kansas City Chiefs select...... Kyler Gordon / CB / Washington

We have needs in a few spots and CB is one of them. With any WR we would consider in the 1st off of the board, we get an immediate upgrade for our Secondary.

With the 30th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft......the Kansas City Chiefs select...... Boye Mafe / DE / Minnesota

With our first 1st we get help for the Secondary in Gordon. With our second 1st we get an immediate help to the DL. Frank Clark's production has been on the decline since 2018. We haven't re-signed Melvin Ingram. Mafe posted a monster RAS at the Combine of 9.91 and you see how disruptive he can be on tape. Thing is, he's not even close to his ceiling, still very raw. Steve Spagnuolo has coached up some of the best in the game over the years. We like the potential to be an immediate impact player here.

@BigdaddyinOrlando and the Bengals are on the clock

I’d love the trade. Just have no idea why a rebuilding NO would do that deal.

They aren’t rebuilding imo. Based on everything they are doing this offseason. They need a WR and a LT. They couldn’t afford Armstead who is always hurt anyway. Its actually a really good roster and Winston was playing well before he got hurt. They have a veteran line except a LT, they have Kamara, Mike Thomas, Marshon Lattimore, Cam Jordan, Marcus Davenport, they just signed Marcus Maye and they hired a new coach from within. That is not a rebuild.

While I think Ojabo still has a good shot at being taken by Baltimore at 14, if he is still on the board at 25 I do wonder if Beane could pull the trigger if he stays BPA.

It’s been on my mind.  I could see it for sure.    I wouldn’t mind tbh.  Could pay off big time

Yeah I wouldn’t hate it, no rush for him to get on the field either and with his athleticism would be a great Edmunds replacement if we don’t resign him

Edmunds?  I think he’d be more of a 3rd pass rusher behind Miller and Rousseau until Miller moves on.  He’d then take over as our best rusher

With 31st pick in the 2022 TSW draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select; Kenyon Green OG Texas A&M

Offensive line play needed to badly upgraded and we couldn’t be happier to have this player fall to us at 31. Plays with a nasty streak and will help in the run game pass protection immediately in keeping Burrow up right.

The Lions and @Sherlock Holmes are now on the clock with pick 32

I think he has off the ball LB potential with his athleticism at the next level too though.  And with how we use Edmunds he could slide into there until they brought in a more traditional MLB.
