Orlando Buffalo Posted Monday at 12:25 AM Posted Monday at 12:25 AM Did not go onto detail but just read that Ukraine hit Russia today and they are suppose to have peace talks tomorrow. If this is so that he can go into the meeting and state to Putin he can hit back hard therefore peace is needed I am ok with this, but if it is to simply extend the war I am beyond pissed that we are funding any of it.

I'll keep reiterating a point BMan made two-ish years ago. The war will continue so long as one side thinks it can win outright or thinks that any kind of fighting is better than the most likely peace deal. The game we're playing right now is the diplomatic equivalent of Rumsfeld, Cheney and Bush telling the military to get this whole Iraqi insurgency sideshow wrapped up so we can move on to what's really important. Which is why the war goes on and on and every day we look more foolish and weak.
Coffeesforclosers Posted Tuesday at 09:42 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:42 PM Initial OSINT analysis says Ukraine destroyed or damaged 15 Russian strategic bombers, AWACS and heavy cargo lifters. So we're a bit of a ways from the 41 claimed in public, but still quite the coup. 1
B-Man Posted yesterday at 02:19 PM Posted yesterday at 02:19 PM (edited) Russia-Ukraine war has caused 1.4 million military casualties. Of the 1 million Russian casualties, roughly 250,000 troops have been killed, while Ukraine has seen around 60-100,000 of its soldiers killed out of 250,000 casualties. It is difficult to calculate accurate casualty numbers since Russia often under-counts and Ukraine doesn’t report them. The study used figures from U.S. and UK government estimates and other sources. Russia has seized less than 1% of Ukrainian territory since 2024, with its forces in some places progressing just around 165 feet a day, according to the study. The country has also lost a third of its long-range bomber and surveillance fleets, nearly a third of its Black Sea fleet, and some of its top generals. They are losing a greater percentage of their military than Ukraine. That said, Putin doesnt care about causalities. He knows he has more money and unlimited access to it. The idea that anyone "wins" a war is a little misleading in the first place. The bottom line is Russia is just waiting for Ukraine's will to bend. The only way this war is ending is if China backs off in its support of Russia. Edited yesterday at 02:56 PM by thenorthremembers 1 1

The only way this war is ending is if China backs off in its support of Russia. Oddly enough, if any single power is responsible for Russia staying in the fight, it's North Korea. Russia's vaunted industrial mobilization has lagged quite a bit. The Norks supply 30-50% of ALL of Russia's small arms and artillery ammunition is OSINT is to be believed.
sherpa Posted yesterday at 05:15 PM Posted yesterday at 05:15 PM This drone strike on Russian aviation is a game changer in the annals of offensive warfare. Currently, there is no way to adequately defend against such a thing. Imagine a container ship cruising past a US task force in congested waters. Hundreds of drones suddenly launched inside the range needed to properly engage. US airbases do not protect airplanes with hardened spaces, and there are thousands of them. These drones were not data link controlled, so no way to jam them. Consider the amount of farmland purchased by Chinese interests near US air bases. This drone strike is akin to the brilliance of the Israeli pager operation. Pentagon.....We've got a problem. By the way, this has been discussed for years, but nobody did anything about it. 2 1 1

All ya gotta do is have some modicum of ability to decipher real news from Fox state media and then cross check it against what the BBC is reporting. if you can do that, the big picture becomes as clear as a kindergarten chalkboard.
