Bi-Partisan Infrastructure Deal!

The could have built the 2,500mile southern border wall with Mexico 4 times over for the same money they've spent on incomplete rail between two cities.

IT’S LESS ABOUT THE MONEY THAN ABOUT THE POWER AND CONTROL:

What’s really inside Biden’s massive spending bill? A whole lotta pain.

Illegal aliens will be having a field day. Not only will they continue to be allowed to flood into the country largely unimpeded thanks to the Biden border crisis, but they will be immediately eligible for free college enrollment, student loans, and the child tax credit, effectively giving them a permanent guaranteed basic income.

$8 billion will go to create an army of federally funded “climate police” called the Civilian Climate Corps (CCC). They will be able to drop a dime on anyone who has an unacceptably large “carbon footprint” and direct federal attention toward them. Make sure you already have an electric car or there may be someone knocking on your door.

There’s $643 million for the procurement of “culturally appropriate foods” for school lunches. As I’ve written about here repeatedly, no race or cultural group holds the license for any style of food, but apparently, the concept will be twisted to suit whatever the social justice agenda item of the week is. So does this mean that schools with a heavy Hispanic population will be assured of “taco Tuesday?” Oh my. That’s not offensive at all, is it?

Read the whole thing.

The Progressives Flail Wildly After Nancy Pelosi Signals She's Ready to Cave to Joe Manchin

While the chances of a deal before month’s end are still slim, Joe Manchin may have finally bent Nancy Pelosi to his will. The House Majority Leader had formerly promised to connect the infrastructure deal and the bill containing Joe Biden’s “build back better” agenda. At the time, I opined that it was a major blunder, essentially setting her party up to fail because the progressives simply did not have the leverage to enforce such a move.

In the end, that was correct. Now, Pelosi is signaling she’s ready to cave, allowing the infrastructure bill to be passed before any vote on reconciliation. In fact, she’s willing to do that with only a “framework” in place for the latter.

{snip}

That move follows on the heals of Pelosi’s second in command, Steny Hoyer, admitting that any further delay in the infrastructure vote does nothing to help Democrats pass their agenda. Pelosi’s concession is significant and shows that her party’s leadership has realized they overplayed their hand.

Unfortunately for Joe Biden, but very fortunately for the rest of the country, the progressive wing still hasn’t gotten the message. Pramila Jayapal continues to strut around like she has any actual negotiation power when the other side, namely Joe Manchin, is willing to settle for nothing passing.

If Jayapal truly has the numbers to stop the infrastructure bill, she’d be nuking some of her own party’s priorities in order to chase a fantasy that is never going to come to fruition. Republicans would be perfectly fine with that, but that doesn’t negate how politically dumb it is.

Cori Bush, perhaps the most radical member of the House (and that’s saying something), confirmed she is in agreement with Jayapal. That probably means the rest of the squad is as well, which would be enough to kill the bill via a party-line vote.

But, that assumes that Republicans don’t step in and ensure its passage by crossing party lines. That’s a very real possibility if the vote ends up close, especially as some of the more squishy GOP members have shown a penchant lately for throwing the Democrats a bone. Perhaps they think they can’t win in 2022 without saying they passed something? Regardless, that means the progressives may not even have the power to stop Pelosi from giving in. You can expect their wild flailing to continue, though, right down to the last minute.

The funny part is that they eventually will pass something, but nothing like the Socialist's goodie bag they had wanted.

Still, they (and the lapdog media) will proclaim a great victory for the democrat party and for "America"

It is inevitable.

NOT RECONCILED: AN UPDATE

Yesterday morning the White House posted a summary of its so-called Framework of a Spendapalooza bill to be jammed through Congress by Democrats via the reconciliation process. The White House posted the summary just before President Biden went up to Capitol Hill to meet with the House Democratic caucus.

Biden followed up with one of those 20-minute White House speeches in which he stares vacantly into the teleprompter while he struggles to read the text served up to him. The White House has posted the text of his remarks here. I have posted the video below.

The falsity of the remarks lies somewhere between painful and outrageous. Listening to Biden recite the text is tortuous. If ordered by a court as punishment for a crime, it might violate the Eighth Amendment protection against cruel and unusual punishment.

Not a single congressional Republican supports the Spendapalooza in any form, yet this is Biden’s line:

I want to thank my colleagues in the Congress for their leadership. We’ve spent hours and hours and hours over months and months working on this.

No one got everything they wanted, including me, but that’s what compromise is. That’s consensus. And that’s what I ran on.

I’ve long said compromise and consensus are the only way to get big things done in a democracy, important things for the country.

“That’s consensus” requires translation. It means Democrats agree. Otherwise, not so much. And this is at the top of the speech. It rolls downhill slowly from there.

FTA:

Yet they do share one recently developing commonality that has gone under the radar of the national press that tells the story of a state, and by default, a country so disapproving of the president and the Democrats that even the bluest of blue-state voters can’t pretend anymore that things are going well.

With a border Biden has refused to visit, crippling inflation that he initially dismissed as temporary, and a broken supply chain that has affected every segment of our lives and our economy, Biden is widely seen by voters as negligent on all of those issues.

His problems do not end there. Ending the war in Afghanistan, a move that had widespread support, was never supposed to be at the expense of American lives. His management of COVID-19 became political instead of managerial, and how he and the Justice Department have addressed parents’ distress with local school boards has sent chills to suburban parents here and across the county.

And the oddest thing is that this administration and its surrogates think all the public are concerned about is passing a massive human infrastructure bill filled with liberal programs that overreach at every turn.

The message is: Once it becomes law, all will be fine.

A bill so massively outside the norms of a traditional infrastructure bill is not why people voted for Biden, and anyone who says otherwise is peddling spending pornography. Biden, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer would know that if they took the time to listen.

But they don’t.

They don’t even want to.

Since when is high speed internet a necessity we did with out it for 100's of years and now all the sudden it's a need for what video games, Face Book, twitter, Oh & we can't forget Tik Tok holy S**T where would we all be with out that BS .

It's all a ploy to get votes by giving away what the new lazy American's that don't want to work consider Entitlements plain and simple .

If you don't believe it go out & lok at how many Hiring signs there are all over no matter where you go but employers can't find decent help no matter the pay because gov't (Like in Cali) just passed another extension on unemployment benefits despite the need for workers all to promote their pandemic agenda .

Just the other day i over heard a conversation that two younger people were having one being the owner of a hot dog stand working as his 2nd job to support his kids .

A young lady came up and asked if this was his only job his reply "no i work construction during the day i do this for extra money"

her reply "well at least you don't have to pay $14k for your college tuition"

then she asked "hey do you have kids ?"

answer "yes i have a 4 yr old boy"

to which she asked "do you need a baby sitter that's the kind of job i want where i don't have to show up every day for work that would be perfect"

to which i answered "that sounds like e typical younger generation answer !! "

The young people today are looking for & will vote for those that will give them the entitlements they think they deserve just for being born in America they are to lazy (for the most part) to go earn their own way due in part to parents giving them every thing they ask for and not expecting them to have to give back in any way .

So any where that there could be any kind of harsh reality as far as having to earn the benefits you receive i don't see any over whelming majority of young people to vote in such a way that they would get a politician in office other than one that has a bunch of give aways in the disguise of it being free to them .

That being this infrastructure deal Free housing, free internet, free college, free Daycare, FREE FREE FREE that sounds like a TV commercial .

Heaven for bid they should ever have to break a sweat to get something they want !!

She along with her colleagues are a huge POS !! They don't care at all about the people !!

I don't wish her any bad will but i hope when she goes to inspect the pallets of newly printed cash that a pallet falls on her so she can have all the cash she ever wanted ...

Ya, that's a dead letter in the U.S.

Air ships are cheaper, way cheaper, and very much doable.

That's how government works.  True story.  My brother worked in Homeland Security in the early 2000's.  At a time when they were establishing all the airport security measures after 9/11.  The first phase was to deploy these measures to all the major airports.  The basic plan was to deploy the measures in a priority order with the most important and critical airports to be secured in order of importance that was established through the use of objective measures like hubs first and traffic volumes.

But the idiots in the field had a different idea.  They spent all the initial budget money to perform about 1/2 of the work at all the major phase one airports which resulted in spending all the money but securing nothing.  As long as you understand the best and the brightest are not leading our government you won't be disappointed or surprised by anything.

Biden, Nan and Chucky are lying (about the "mandate" Joey has to go socialist) and don't care.  The majority didn't elect him to be a socialist: they elected him because they thought/he claimed he was a moderate.

No reason not to. It isn't for free, the government will pay for it :)

Got to spend money to make money and this is a good investment for businesses, especially small businesses which hire the most workers.

Are you serious with this? That would be like someone in 1920 ask why we should invest in the electric grid. All of modern society depends on the internet,  prolly 80% of the fortune 2000 runs it's  business almost completely  on the internet, research of all kinds from medical, to genetic, to industrial..all of it, financial transactions of all kinds...literally just about everything in the  developed world depends on reliable high speed connections to the internet.

The only thing i would ask for in this nill, that may be in there and i just do not know it..is money to bring chip manufacturing onshore. We are SO dependent on the internet and chips of all kinds, Taiwan has 65% of global chip production...that is the biggest threat out there right now to our way of life, much more so than climate.

You will be eating crow when I zoom you from my first class bullet train seat whisking me from historic Bakersfield, home of Buck Owens and the Buckaroos, to Merced, home of the forgotten boondoggle UC Campus that that 1020 SAT got you into, all in just over an hour and a half.

Zoom will still be a thing in 2035, right?
