Impossible.  No way.  Can’t happen.  User error.  Harmless oversight. Voter suppression.  Incidental.  Republicans. MOST SECURE ELECTION EVAH!

Same as it ever was.  Democratic politicians will always try to convince their constituents that the GOP is racist for trying to suppress your vote with stricter voting laws.  Republican politicians will always try to convince their constituents that strict voting laws are needed to prevent fraud.  They're intelligent enough to know that both racism and fraud charges are complete bs.  They'll continue to push that narrative though to gain and/or maintain power.

My only problem with the bill is it never would've been written if Trump won Georgia.

do some of the "restrictions" have nothing to do with fraud or trump but a natural pullback from concessions made to promote voting during a pandemic?

serious question as i don't know Georgia laws before or after in regard to covid.

as for another element that goes beyond trump. you have a historic amount of illegals crossing into the US, a president who seems to have encouraged and promoted this crisis and states that have openly stated they disregard US law to provide "sanctuary".

these are real factors that would lead a public to want tighter election security for ALL states by americans.

You’re onto something here.  In spite of hundred of years of evidence that people are moved to carry themselves based on their own experiences, it’s easy to rile up the masses by segmenting into skin color, gender etc.  Even well-intentioned people fall for it, so those running the game can’t really lose.

It’s actually pandering of the highest order, and reveals how emotions can trump intellect and reason virtually every time.

What it boils down to is that we, in this country, have it so easy we have to create imaginary problems just so those SJW can feel good about themselves.  Those poor people need our help!  Don't get me wrong there are plenty of people that need help and I will gladly help them with my tax dollars but creating imaginary problems to me appears as almost a psychological disorder.

No.  It's Trump.  He lives inside all political operatives heads and the Georgia GOP is rewarding bad behavior.  The bill has everything to do with Trump saying the results in Georgia were rigged in various ways (my favorite through one of his lawyers saying that communists throughout the world rigged the voting machines through an algorithm).  The immense push back has everything to do with Trump refusing to accept the results.  I think it would be naive to think otherwise as the GOP was put under a microscope after the election.  As far as the bill itself, I don't like that they took away the drop boxes (why?) but other than that there's nothing really wrong with it.

I don’t like the legislature being able to potentially disenfranchise voters by overruling county officials.

I read the whole bill and the hoops that are needed to jump through to make that happen make it highly unlikely.

I hope so.  But there’s a reason that provision was put in.  Same for taking overall responsibility from the Secretary of State.  Bottom line is they made a law to address a non-existent issue.

I’m sure the average Georgian sits around just wondering what well-meaning non-Georgians worry about on their behalf, and the counsel they can offer.

Laughable.... These "hoops" are designed nicely for the GQP legislature to jump through as the new bill gives legislators majority power over the agency thus removing the last line of defense at the county level.

No more checks and balances in the process to find those 11,000 votes and you know it.

Incompetent supervisors led to long lines and other problems like not providing absentee voting requests.  They should be subject to being replaced if they can't competently do their job.

Trump asked them to find the votes and they refused so maybe they have more integrity than you blindly assume they lack.

Incompetent supervisors? Here we go again - more bullshittt.  The GQP removed over 200 voting sites the past few years and long lines (4-9 hours) developed as a result.  How many voting sites were reactivated in the new law? ZERO.

The Secretary of State in Georgia lost his powers in this new bill because he did his job and didn't let political pressure and temptation manufacturer those 11,000 votes.

RETALIATION.

GQP can't win without cheating...

They took away drop boxes because they were the vehicle for the fraudulent paper ballots cranked out by Democratic Party leading up to the election. They were an unnecessary concession to Dems with the excuse being the pandemic made voting in person “ unsafe” lol. When you consider that about 40k votes ( likely unverified paper ballots) in Georgia and Wisconsin put the lunatic fringe left in power, it’s understandable that election security is a huge issue. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was at least attempted electronic manipulation by the Democrat party, but I’m certain that tens of thousands of illegitimate paper ballots were counted for Biden. The scheme was obvious as Democrat Governors were very early to implement mass mailing of unrequested ballots , and then backed legal maneuvers to remove all verification and checks on paper ballots. Then the media blitz afterward calling the fraud the “ big lie”. Though they were stunned that 70+ million voters didn’t fall for it and voted for Trump ( mostly in person) , they quickly chalked it up to unprecedented “ turnout”. In reality, it was unprecedented manipulation of many States voting systems and unheard of amounts of phony ballots being counted as they couldn’t be verified. Unsurprisingly, the Dems now want unconstitutional federal takeover of elections and to permanently allow ballot stuffing through mass unverified paper ballots. They hate America, hate the Constitution and hate people that work hard. They now pander exclusively to illegals, criminals, and woke Caucasians that hate themselves and wish they lived in socialist countries.

You do realize how conspiratorial that sounds and you're basically the pot calling the kettle black.  Same thing with @Boatdrinks insane post.

It’s conspiratorial because your sugar coated sources didn’t tell you that the Georgia GQP closed over 200 voting sites?

Are you afraid to look it up?

Insane? That’s the world of the Dems. The truth is now “ insane” or conspiratorial , facts are racist, women are men and men are women, illegals flooding in immediately after the borders are opened by Biden is Trump’s fault , removing the vehicles of cheating from elections is Jim Crow, destroying entire states economies due to a virus that is fatal to a half percent or less of the population is “ following the science”, infrastructure is defined as anything you want it to be etc etc.  Insanity is believing the Dems and the media propaganda when the obvious is smacking you in the face.

I did and googled "Georgia GQP" said "did you mean Georgia GDP" so I didn't bother.

The new bill gives election officials the option to add staff and voting machines if a line lasts for more than an hour if it makes you feel any better.

That quote was already proven to be a lie , but again once the media repeats their propaganda often enough it becomes accepted as truth. They retract months later when the damage is done and the retraction is easily forgotten.

Awe, how cute. They added provision to add a machine or two on the fly... that will really help with the over 200 closed sites across the state - lovely.

Meanwhile:

Voting precincts closed across Georgia since election oversight lifted

  • Election officials have closed 214 precincts in Georgia over the last six years, many of them in rural, poor and minority communities.

Southern U.S. states have closed 1,200 polling places in recent years

  • Georgia closed roughly 1 in 20 polling locations

Supreme Court ruling caused mass polling place closures across Southern USA

  • The accelerated closures left seven counties in Georgia with just one polling place to serve hundreds of square miles
  • After the law, which targeted communities with a history of voter discrimination, was struck down, Texas saw 750 polling locations closed, Arizona lost 320, and Georgia shut down 214

Why Georgia Has Slashed Hundreds of Polling Places in the Last 4 Years

No, don't conflate the issue and who Trump was talking with at the time.  There is audio pressuring the Secretary of State to find those 11,000 votes.

"I just want to find 11,780 votes - which is one more than we have - because we won the state"
