Soccer teams come to the States ever darn year for pre-season games, despite the fact they are disruptive and, like the NFL in Europe, the numbers show interest in the game over there continues to grow. The Premier League wanted regular season season games overseas. And if we had a franchise model it would have happened already. The problem is in the Premier League there is no revenue sharing and the smaller, poorer, teams vetoed it because they knew it would just widen the gap between rich and poor yet further. But soccer is the most popular game in the world because of its global reach. TBH, I'm not sure how soon travel restrictions are likely to be lifted, regardless. This thing is global, and it's going to be very difficult to allow anything resembling free movement around the world, for some considerable time yet. Irrespective of how much you believe the Chinese figures, one thing has become apparent, in that many of their additional cases now, are from people bringing it into the country. Countries around the world will have taken note of this, and will be organizing their strategies accordingly, which will mean much more restrictive requirements for anyone who is travelling, whether it's in their movements once they get somewhere, or their medical clearances, before they are even allowed in. That’s fine. Is it OK if I personally don’t like it? I understand WHY they do it, I still don’t love it. Maybe it’s my resentment over the sucky Toronto series. As someone I know who’s been to a lot of therapy likes to say “FEEL your feelings!” The NBA isn’t building this into every teams regular season schedule, but they probably will before too long. That’s fine with me, because I haven’t watched them in years. You feel free to like the expansion, and I’ll probably continue not to love it. That’s life! Having said all that, if and when the Bills are back in London, I would certainly see if I could make it to the game. Always looking for a good excuse! If you want games you should be getting pre-season at best, just like Arsenal and Manchester do when they play these warm-up tourneys across the pond, not games that actually mean something. International games put the "home" team at an awful disadvantage and they are ridiculous in a sport where you only get 8 home games to begin with. They might create a Super Champions-League where the top x number of teams from each country in the world, not just Europe, play for a championship, but you will not see them farm out home league games. They voted on it like 6 years ago. The League wants it to happen. They were going to do what the NFL has just voted to do - add an additional game - and play them in the US, the far east and Australia. The vote didn't pass because the smaller clubs vetoed it. All the big boys wanted it. It will happen. The next TV deal is gonna be stagnant over the last one which will be the first time in 20 odd years that revenues have plateaued. At that point they have two options - extend the availability of each game - the Sunday Ticket type idea where you can watch your team live each week regardless of where or when they kick off or revisit the 39th game. I’m not crazy with European games or any other country, but if there is a 17th neutral site game and both sides agree maybe for a second bye or something so there is somewhat of a built in travel thing then no worries from me. Now this year, I feel from TBD European posters, but if the disease is still kore prevalent over there, or at all, why send teams to Europe as the only way they still play at all is without fans even if mostly gone, but just remnants, and that is a stretch. I know this damn virus/protein is a pain in the ars for everyone, but if we don’t take drastic measures it’s not going away and I was laid off like many others.
