President Donald Trump is demanding General Motors start manufacturing desperately needed ventilators 'NOW' – after a stunning report his administration stalled a potential deal over the cost.

After sustaining weeks of questions and criticisms about why his administration hadn't demanded rush orders for medical equipment weeks ago, Trump took to twitter to demand GM get on the task 'FAST.' He even demanded they reopen a shuttered Ohio plant – even though the company has already put forward a proposal to start assembly at a plant in Indiana.

General Motors MUST immediately open their stupidly abandoned Lordstown plant in Ohio, or some other plant, and START MAKING VENTILATORS, NOW!!!!!! FORD, GET GOING ON VENTILATORS, FAST!!!!!!' Trump wrote.

Trump also teed off on the company in an additional tweet, blaming the firm for the breakdown in the deal – amid signals that the Big Three manufacturer's hometown of Detroit is in for some difficult days of shortages due to the coronavirus.

Agree with Trump. Time is now to get VENTILATORS NOW.

I said it days ago and I'll say it again. When all is said and done not locking down NYC will be looked upon as the worst mistake of this Pandemic.

RIght. People freaking travel no matter what. People do stupid things. Like going on a beach. Pure stupidity.

That China video does not belong in this thread. Sorry! It was police-on-police (apparently).

This tells me that it's highly unlikely that China is not experiencing any new cases.

I would like to delete it, but it has been quoted twice now. I put it in the wrong thread.

Edit: I did delete it and put it in the better thread.

Why not?  It's a clear reaction to what the government did to them since the start of the outbreak.

It did not read like that to me.  Anyhooo you and @Buffalo Bills Fan quoted it, so if it is a Coronavirus reaction, it is here.

Considering Hubei is the epicenter of the outbreak, and the citizens have been locked down for nearly 2 months, and the fight is on a bridge leading out of that province, it's reasonable to assume that this is very much China-virus related.

Are they insane?

Right reminds me of Japan how it got badly fast when people were doing that crap. Lots of dumb people in the world. It's good to go to Church but in this situation worldwide coronavirus  stay home, do it online to priest, or something.  Just not packed full of people outside or inside packed full of full.

Seeing China made so many false test kits to many countries. I wonder how "well" if any truth (they are telling, i'm sure they are hiding something) working there?

Why are people STILL going on cruises? People should know better and awful sad for those pass away and sick :(.

China Shuts Down All Cinemas, Again

</snip>

China's film regulators has slammed the brakes on plans to gradually reopen the country's cinemas.

Over 600 movie theaters across China were given the green light to reopen their doors over the past week, but Beijing's Film Bureau put out a notice late Friday ordering all theaters to go back into shutdown.

No official explanation for the sudden reversal was provided. Industry insiders instantly began speculating that the government was worried about a potential second wave of coronavirus infections.

Speaking of cinemas, the Chinese are major investors in the US. The AMC theatre chain is one of theirs. <_<

I don't understand why people EVER go on cruises. They're just giant, floating petri dishes.

I love to take cruises. It helps me build my immune system. Probably as well as a teacher, daycare worker, or someone with children.  ?

Seriously though, I have another one booked for later this year, and one for early next (Antarctica, not sure how else I could get there if not on a boat).

Battelle awaiting FDA approval to deploy mask-sterilizing technology

Columbus-based research giant Battelle is close to deploying machines that will sterilize masks and allow healthcare workers to reuse them as demand grows amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted said Friday.

He said approval from the Food and Drug Administration, the necessary final step before the technology can be put to use, could come as soon as Friday evening.

A Battelle spokeswoman declined to talk about the technology pending that approval. But Husted said his understanding is that the machines would be able to sterilize up to 160,000 masks a day. He expects two machines to be deployed in Ohio, with others headed to New York, Seattle and Washington, D.C.
