Do it!!! I don’t even own a computer. I’m going as far as spending like $800 on a new laptop just to play. I’ve come to the realization that I miss classic deeply. That if BC and the rest of the expansions didn’t ruin the game I’d still probably be playing anyway. So this is what I’ve been waiting for. Can’t wait to get back in there and start tanking.

I think what I'll end up doing is waiting a month or two after launch.  Its gonna be crazy crowded and they'll have bugs to work out.  Plus the launch date is close to the start of College Football and NFL seasons which will consume the bulk of Saturday and Sunday plus Monday and Thursday nights

It will include everything and all will be time released just like classic was.

Once you got to 62 it all got replaced b.c the stats went through the roof.

Yes. I’m aware of the releases now. Wasn’t sure what patch they would open as.

And yeah, everything got replaced because the stats were better. Just sucks that you replaced your T2 sets with greens you got for turning in stupid quests that took you 30 mins to complete. It took me months and months to acquire T2 pieces.

Thought about this too. But I’m not sure I can wait it out. I’ll be too excited to get in there.

Good plan - the population will likely drop some from the initial rush, as there will be more than a few people who either never played vanilla and don't have any clue how hard it was compared to today; or forgot how hard it was and don't want to deal with it.

And for those who stay, they'll generally be at or near 60, so the newbie areas won't be as crowded.

I probably won't play, but I do miss zerging Stratholme and 6 hour Scholomance runs...

Problem I see is now that everyone has done this before, it will be a piece of cake.

Possibly. Except the amount of people that are going to play classic are probably only about 50% at best from what played before. Your going to have a whole lot of new wow players that have no idea how hard it really was. About what to do in real legit 40 man raids. Etc. society as a whole has changed so much in the last 10+ years. Millennials now are gonna be like... you mean I have to team up with 4,9,19,39 other players and I might not even get anything. Screw that.

Mage and lock are super easy leveling. Especially frost mage. Crazy aoe pulls. Blinking out. Aoe ranged. Freeze,  Blink again. Recycle.

Had as a busy that was super fast aoe grinding how way to 60. Was making crazy loot by farming Dire Mauls first few pulls solo. Made me want to roll a mage.

I rerolled from a Pally at the time to a warrior to Main Tank. Cleared all of MC, Ony, BWL, ZG, AQ20 and partially through AQ40. Then Naxx cane out and then BC. BCorwtty much destroyed our guild at the time.

I quit for a few months, then came back and rerolled a BELF Rofue on a PVP server to get in and have fun ganking people and play BGs.

I KNOW Classic WoW private servers have a ton of people on it. All Classic WoW will be is a race for server/world firsts. TBH I wouldn't play for the PvE if I did again (That was easy anyway 10 Manning MC, 20 Manning BWL, 5 Manning Onxyia) the hardest and the only two I never beat was Naxx and C'Thun. I would play PvP to finish getting HWL which I missed out on b.c of BC. I don't have that time anymore.

Is anyone planning on starting a guild for the message board?

From what I've read, Classic WoW is supposed to be fairly close to the original with a few Quality of Life enhancements.  One QoL enhancement they should consider is the ability to join multiple guilds.

Between work, offline friends, online friends, former online gaming friends, and random people that I struck up a conversation with, I've had several people suggest starting a guild when this thing launches

No, just you.

Don't that stop you from whipping it out, though.

Elder Scrolls Online lets you join multiple guilds.  It would be a nice QoL addition so you can be in a raiding guild with other players that want to explore end game content, while at the same time be in a casual guild with coworkers, or if your friends kid asks you to join their guild and you don't to hurt his feelings, and still be in a guild with some schmuck you met on a football message board

I’d be interested to see who’s still interested and what level of play they bring and introducing everyone to my old guild. Getting requests to come back there but there doesn’t seem to be enough to raid regularly. I’d say we’d be a smaller guild with fill in for some other raid guild.

So... here’s a question, what we’re your char names and servers? I wonder if we ever played with each other and never knew it.

Do you, by chance, represent the Lollipop Guild?

Anyone else getting more excited for this? Who’s thinking they are for sure in or out?

I was but so many people are just going for the rush through content. It will never be like it was, I remember the old content was mostly easy especially if you played it before. Lots of people still play classic so it won't be the same for me. Also like I said before I have no time for High War Lord and that is the only thing I didn't accomplish before BC.

Started playing FFXIV and that is more for my play time management then Classic.

Closer and closer. Who’s getting excited? I still need to buy a computer/laptop to play. Found a sick deal on a Dell. Still don’t know if I’m going to play or not. But I am very excited for it and do want to play. Well see tho

Did he play classic wow when it came out tho?

That’s the key question. Because if he’s younger. And/or didn’t play classic wow 12-14 years ago and he plays the new crap that’s out now, or never played at all, then he won’t appreciate it.

I’d be curious to know why he thinks it’s garbage. Did he not like it then? Is it any different now?

Im just thinking he doesn’t like it because he played classic through now and now he’s used to the crap that wow is now.

Said it's boring, mainly. None of the servers are PVP.

Well. At launch, that will change.

Its probably boring for him because you have to start all over again and grind leveling

Yeah, I'm just not emotionally invested in vanilla, started in LK. Also, dread the thought of getting back on Blizz's hamster wheel.

I’ll agree with that. See I haven’t played since BC. I quit then because I hated what they were turning the game into. Classic is where i had all my fun

I was on WoW alpha, quit @ BC because i hated it; skipped LK and came back for Cataclysm; loved Mists, hated WoD and Meh on Legion and while i've carried my subscription i've played BoA sparingly.  From Mists on i was in a hardcore raid guild and that soured my experience, like raids, just not when it's a 'job'.

I'm intrigued by classic and will give it a try, my first char ever was a NE warrior but i may work the priest (disc) first.  I dont have the time i used to so it'll be methodical progress.

Yeah. A lot of people really didn’t like the end game raiding scene. I loved it. Was different for me tho. I was the main tank in my guild and I was one of the guild and raid leaders, so i was one of the ones pushing for end game content and to move forward. I miss that part of it. Was my favorite game of all time. Nothing else even comes close for me.

now that i can see and i always respected the main/offhand tank and pushing is OK, but we were logging in at a specific time on Saturday/Sunday, if you missed 2 raids you dropped to the B and C groups and they simply didn't progress.  I was a healer so i get it i'm being counted on but it became too restrictive, i prefer more casual guilds.

i really like WoW but Ultima Online (and maybe it was the place/time) was my favorite ever, UO original was just, awesome for me.  I'd stay up all night, skip work, buy the best modem (33.6k FTW) and play/think about that game non-stop.

UO - DAoC - WoW was my MMORPG path.
