Speaking of Finnish hockey fans sitting next to you... Remember when the Sabres played a big playoff series agains the Capitals in the '90s? Esa Tikkanen was playing for Washington in those days, at the end of his career. I was at a game in Buffalo, and Esa's entire Finnish family was sitting directly behind me. I had great seats in the corner in like the 3rd row. They were cheering for Esa in particular, the Caps, and speaking Finnish (mostly) the entire game. What an unusual language to listen to. 2 hours ago, JohnC said: Let me simplify things for you. There is a big Risto and a small Risto. Trust your eyes. The mistakes of the past decision-makers not only didn't advance the team but set it back. I believe the Sabres will be improved this year but are at least a year away from being a playoff team. (Would love to be proven wrong.) Our GM is going to make sensible deals to improve the team such as the Skinner, Montour, Joki for Nylander etc. but he is not going to mortgage the future for short term gains. BillsFan4
Ristolainen and Johansson are making their preseason debuts tonight. The game will be on TV (MSG channel) at 7pm tonight. Im looking forward to seeing if this lineup can match the effort of last night’s lineup. I enjoyed last night’s game a lot more than I thought I would. I was really impressed with the effort and aggressive style of play. Frederik Andersen stood on his head otherwise the score would have looked different. I don't expect people to watch every Sabres game but it's not that difficult to look at what they have done with off season moves. The Sabres like hockey in most of the U.S. is an afterthought. Quite frankly the Rockpile era fans bug me with their love of old school football. And being against any talk of a new stadium with a smaller tailgating area. As far as the Sabres go, I am liking what the new GM is building and am hopeful with the new coach. To be honest I find hockey a much more entertaining sport. Who doesn't like hits, fights and goals.
