She's trying to beat others to the punch. Her father's involvement in NVIXM will be brought up by others when the primaries (ultimately) drag everyone into the muck.

She's also an opportunist more so than a good party soldier. Her about face with the Clintons proves that.

Funny how the only people claiming the Mueller investigation is under any sort of threat are Democrats.  It's almost like they're trying to manipulate people into believing something that isn't true...

Do you see a real chance of Trump losing in 2020 no matter who they run?

I think it's going to be a close race no matter who they run, just pointing out that our pool of candidates (on both sides) has been awful lately.

I think trump is going to rally his base extremely well for a great turn out, but I think the left is also going to be energized.  I wouldn't want to have to put money on this bet

Fair enough

The US has been quite comfortable with two terms for Presidents for a long time, the exceptions being the useless Carter and Papa Bush who wasn’t really into it for a second campaign

No doubt, but this political climate is anything but predictive (or reasonable!).  I'm liberal, but if I had to choose I would label Trump as the favorite to win.

Cool, I hope it’s a good campaign with a solid Dem trying to keep it civil and about the issues

who do you see as the best option currently for the Democratic Party?

I wish I could have a good discussion about that, but I don't know.  Sanders, Warren, and Harris are all so goofy.  Biden?  Come on.

Oh, and I assure you it won't be civil and about the issues.  My guess is the Democratic nominee will be who can rally up the hate for trump the best, which might be Harris? Gross

Thanks, I will be watching and trying not to get too jaded by it all.

i would expect Trump will not get a big challenge and the Democratic Party will be looking more to 2024.  But 2 years is an eternity in politics.

Canada will have an interesting federal election at the latest calling for October 2019.

I think that the Republicans will run one insurance candidate just in case Trump is not resonating with the masses.  But by and large 2024 for both parties.  When is the latest that Chelsea Clinton can run for Congress once residency is addressed here in NY or as some have theorized RI.  Got to get that springboard ready for 2024.

They even ran a GOP wounded rabbit against Reagan obvious landslide in  1984, can’t remember his name....

Oh yes, Harold Stassen, former gov of Minnesota

The Conservative candidate is not worth the effort.

Trudeau will win a minority government and then get quickly non-confidenced and current Ontario premier Doug Ford will win a landslide majority after getting the Conservative leadership.

The Race to the Far Left
by George Neumayr

Original Article

Hillary Clinton ran far to Donald Trump’s left and lost much of the country. It appears from the early crop of Democratic presidential contenders that the party’s 2020 strategy is to offer an even starker ideological choice.

They sound ready to run an even more bi-coastal campaign than Hillary’s, which will leave much of the center open to Trump and keep the right galvanized.

They have obviously learned nothing.  Of course pulsing under the surface I have noticed that the left thinks that they can be rid of the Electoral College by 2020.
