"Austin", TX is racist

Recommended Posts

I was hoping that this might die down before the national media got hold of it. These kind of things can usually be settled quietly and amicably if addressed locally, but once they hit the national stage it becomes a movement, and people become pissed off and destructive. My guess is that the local SJWs will soon be breaking out the torches and pitchforks over this new outrage.

I think they'll name it Harveymilk, TX.

That should fit with the environment down there.

How about renaming it "RobertByrdsville, TX" and see how that settles with everyone.

Joking aside, I believe Austin is where all the CA liberals are moving to in order to escape high CA taxes, just before they elect local far-left people to run the city and increase their taxes.

Weep for Texas. The infection's begun.

That pretty much sums it up. It's still a nice place to live, but it's getting pretty expensive as of late.

It's not that bad. The leftist influx is still pretty tightly contained. Check out that detailed voting map and you'll see we're still very much a red state.

Progressivism is more virulent than smallpox. Once one region is infected, the host will eventually succumb. See: Viriginia for an advanced case

Austin has been a leftist town for decades though. Between the UT campus and the state government being based here, Austin has a history of left-wing culture. That's not even counting the music & film industry presence. The truth is that since Texas is so much more affordable than California, Austin, Dallas, and San Antonio have all been luring many California-based companies here. The people who move here sell their place in California and can get a much nicer place here, but that's causing property values to skyrocket. The local economy is doing very well though.

The city to watch for indications of Texas turning into a blue state would be Dallas/Fort Worth and the metroplex in general. It's a very big state though, with lots and lots of rural communities that are about as far from being socialist/leftist as is humanly possible.

We're getting ready to put our CA house on the market, and give Northern Idaho a try. The property I can get for a fraction of the cost of my CA is ridiculous (and I'm talking about 4-5 acres), with MUCH lower state and property taxes.

So in the next year I will be uprooting my company and basing it there, and to be honest, I can not wait to stop getting crushed by the cost to run a company in CA.

What do you do with 4 or 5 acres?  Maybe a few goats or chickens... But where the hell would you park your double wide??

Not that far up. More in line with Spokane. Near Couer d'Alene.

Good point?   Are you going to do any "prepping" type of survival stuff?  There it is almost a way of life.  Shirley, a generator?

I'd recommend using a 2nd septic tank to collect rain water from the roof and use it to water lines and as gray water.  I wish I had one for it.

I suspect it won't stop CA from trying to tax you.  Or ban your plastic straws.

Austin is a very liberal city.  Has been for a long time.
