3rdnlng Posted May 25, 2018 Share Posted May 25, 2018 This is not a complaint but an observation. A couple of decades ago this was not even on the radar of the marketing gurus. Recently I have noticed a flood of tv commercials that have mixed couples in them. I don't approve or disapprove because I really don't care but I question the reason why? The celebration of a mixed couple is different, not liberal. Two or three decades ago you would never see this on a tv commercial. There would have been quite a backlash. It is all about marketing. If the eggheads believe that an interracial couple will sell more viagra, then they'll put an interracial couple in said commercial. Stop being daft, Gungy. Money is the reason. If marketing thinks "interracial" sells a certain thing, for whatever reason, an interracial couple will be inserted. On a lighter note you shouldn't be talkin' about getting it up. Being hung like a gnat and graduating to being hung like a fly isn't a really big deal. FWIW, you need to be careful what you post on the internet, some of us remember things and will use them against you just for the fun of it. Tiberius Posted May 25, 2018 Share Posted May 25, 2018 It's marketing. There are more mixed couples so advertisers are trying to reach them and make commercials they can identify with. Twenty years ago I saw Arthur Schlesinger Jr at UB speaking and he said that marriage between races will heal the racial divide in the country like nothing else. I think he was right. No I'm saying that the frequency with which we see this in advertising now is due to the ad creators who view their work through the lens of race which is a liberal trait. Personally I don't care, it is just an observation on my part. I do wonder what the motivation is by the people creating the commercials though. I have the tv on in the background as I work from my desk and I've noticed it's quite prevalent. The amount of interracial couples in tv commercials is many times the amount in actuality.
