It’s like when the nfl claimed they couldn’t get a tape from the Ray Rice incident at a casino yet TMZ could. Either they are liars or morons. but if he really didn’t do anything wrong, it’s sad that an allegation can follow you around for life. Yes and it can be difficult to substantiate harm to your reputation. But lying to an officer of the law by making a false accusation is a crime, regardless, and much easier to prove. Until given reason otherwise I tend to start at “probably just happened to find it when playing in the database for something else” on timing for stuff like this. Then follow to “reporter probably thought he’d get clicks” before jumping to ideas like hit piece. But there definitely could be more underlying the motivation. Cheap shots from todays media , ruining #metoo being a feel good story and twisting it into a pisspoor opportunity to create news. The guy has made it this far in Life with out this being news after the initial " incident". National Enquirer style journalism . Now if the woman had come forth and was trying to get justice. The 5 witnesses are not actually "witnesses", they are professionals brought in to the investigation based on their role, with the exception of the potential victim. Additionally, the Chief of Police said what most of us are thinking: it's not really about the sex, it's about the consent. And like I posted days ago, there is probably some degree of truth on both sides but here we are....a legally innocent man's name dragged through the mud for something that *might* have happened. This is the kind of stuff that I really disagree with as it provides no true value to society at large due to the legal restraints and timelines and yet, continues to be a hotbed of discussion and possibly tarnishing a man's reputation. Things get brushed under the radar by local news and others who do not see value in stories like this. It happens a lot for UNC, Duke, etc in the RDU.
